Huawei Y9 (2018) Specifications
Introduction and Performance
Huawei
launched Y9 in March 2018 in India, and the mid-range device helped the Chinese
manufacturer strengthen its position in the highly competitive smartphone
market of the country. To kick-off the new year, the brand launched an updated
version of the phone dubbed as Y9 2019 with considerably improved specs and
design almost around in the same price range as its predecessor.
Camera and Storage
As
mentioned above, Y9 2019 features a dual camera setup not just at the back but
on the front too. The vertically oriented camera set up on the front features a
16MP primary camera with an f/2.0 aperture and a 2MP secondary sensor with an
f/2.4 aperture. Turn the phone, and there is a 13MP primary camera with an aperture
of f/1.8 and again a secondary camera with an f/2.4 aperture.
There are
only a few other devices in the Huawei
Y9 2019 price range that offer dual cameras on both front and the back. The
phone comes with built-in storage of 64GB which can be further extended up to
400GB with a microSD card. There is a dedicated slot for inserting a memory
card.
Battery and Display
Huawei Y9
2019 features a big 4,000mAh battery which the company suggests can offer talk
time of up to 52 hours and music playback of up to 65 hours. Users who love
playing high-definition games can continuously play for up to 9 hours without
any interruption on a full charge. However, the phone does not support fast
charge.
The phone
has a large 6.5-inches Full HD+ display with a pixel density of 397ppi and
contrast ratio of 1500:1. The display has a resolution of 2340 x 1080p and
supports up to 16 million colours. There is also a Corning Gorilla Glass for
enhanced display protection.
Connectivity and Platform
Like most
new smartphones, Huawei Y9 2019 also supports dual Nano SIM cards with dual
standby option. It features a 3.5mm jack and all the basic connectivity options
such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, FM radio, and micro USB 2.0. It also has all
the standard sensors such as fingerprint sensor, gyro, accelerometer, compass,
and proximity.
The device
runs on Android 8.1 (Oreo) with Honor's EMUI 8.2 skin on top. Huawei has
already started rolling out EMUI 9.0 which is based on Android 9 (Pie), and
Huawei Y9 2019 is expected to get the update between March and April 2019.
