The Chinese Telecom multinational, ZTE launched three new smartphones under its Nubia range – Nubia Z7, Nubia Z7 Max and Nubia Z7 Mini – last week. With specs and prices ranging from high end to mid level, the new Nubia Z7 range has something to offer for all categories of buyers. Nubia Z7 Max and Nubia Z7 Mini are variants of the Nubia Z7.
While all three versions are different in their own way, some specs that the company has kept standard in all three are the Quad-core Snapdrogan 801 chipset, Android 4.4 KitKat OS, 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, dual SIM connectivity, FM radio and Wi-Fi b/g/n connectivity. All three variants are equipped with a 13-megapixel autofocus rear camera with LED Flash, f/2.0 aperture and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera for taking selfies. These have a NeoVision 4.0 Camera UI with new features. However, the Z7 has an additional Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) support.
The Nubia N7, being the high-end offering, has a 5.5” (measuring 153.2×75.5×8.9mm) QHD screen with 1440×2560 pixels resolution and runs on Nubia UI 2.0. It has more than enough RAM space of 3GB and is backed by a 3000mAh battery, which helps keep the high screen resolution strong. A unique feature reducing battery dependence is something called Display RAM, which does not lean on the chipset for rendering static doesn’t connect, thus saving on battery life. The design of the Nubia Z7 can be likened to an iPhone owing to its side metal edgings and one may also say that its flat white back reminds you of the white version of the Google Nexus 5. Nubia Z7 is currently priced at CNY 3,450 (approx. INR 33,300).
Tech watchers across the world are comparing the Nubia Z7 with LG’s brand new offering, G3, with specifications being much the same. However, the Nubia N7 is $100 cheaper.
The Nubia Z7 Max is a scaled down version of the Nubia Z7 with a screen resolution of full HD 1920 x 1080 pixels but the size remains the same at 5.5 inches (although the device measurements mentioned by the company is 152.7 x 76 x 8.7mm). Despite the difference in dimensions, one doesn’t look thicker than the other in product pics provided by the company. Although it sports the same Snapdragon 801 chipset, the RAM is 2GB. This version of the Nubia series is much more affordable than its counterpart and is priced at CNY 2,000 (approx. INR 19,300).
Now coming to the Nubia Z7 Mini, the phone may have been termed ‘mini’, it is, infact, taller than the Nubia Z7 Max. The screen is however smaller at 5 inches and has a full-HD resolution with the measurement of 140.9 x 69.3 x 8.2mm.It has a 2GB RAM and has a storage capacity of 16GB with a microSD card slot. The battery capacity is lower than its higher counterparts at a 2300mAh, but the connectivity is the same. Being the most affordable in the series, the Nubia Z7 Mini is priced at CNY 1,500 (approx INR 14,500)
All the three handsets have been launched in China right now and their availability outside China is not known yet.
