The Nubia Z9 Mini runs on Android Lollipop, albeit a highly customized version of it. ZTE has named the software skin the Nubia UI. This UI consists of custom apps, app icons, menus and transition effects that make it look different from other Android interface. Similar to Xiaomi’s MIUI and Gionee’s Amigo skins, the Nubia UI does not have an app drawer. Instead, all the apps and widgets are displayed across the home screens which make it a unified app launching screen. Usually found in phones with larger screens, the split screen function can be found in this 5” phone to enable the user to run two apps at once. It also supports motion sensing gestures like shaking the phone to clear notifications, flipping to mute, or double tapping the screen to unlock the phone.
With new brands constantly entering the lucrative Smartphone market every few months, it will be a waiting game to see just how far ZTE goes with its products in India.
