The company has been teasing the launch of the new device for quite a while and now it has confirmed the launch date as April 24. The Redmi Y series is a selfie centric lineup and the company has already teased its 32MP ‘Super Selfie’ camera in a dew drop notch. The teaser tweet reads- “Y should selfies be less detailed? Y can’t we change the way we look at them? Y wait? The #32MPSuperSelfie is coming your way soon. Revealing on 24-04-2019.” Earlier, the company had also tweeted that the upcoming Y series phone will come with large battery without mentioning its power. However, it is speculated that the Redmi Y3 will pack a 4,000mAh battery.

The phone will go on sale in India via Amazon.in as a dedicated page for the same has already gone live on the site which also mentions the launch date as April 24 along with a ‘Notify Me’ button. Based on the leaks in the past, the Redmi Y3 is expected to run MIUI 10 based on Android Pie operating system out of the box and will have support for Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n standards. It could sport Samsung’s 32-megapixel ISOCELL Bright GD1 image sensor.

Overall, the Redmi Y3 is expected to be a significantly upgraded version of Redmi Y2 in terms of design as well as performance and camera output. The expected price of the device will be around 10k for the base model. To recall, the Redmi Y2 was launched in India at Rs. 9,999 for 3GB RAM model base model but currently it trades at Rs. 8,999.
