After making Redmi an independent brand Xiaomi has launched its first smartphone under the brand dubbed as Redmi Note 7. The phone, that was launched in China, comes with striking looks. It features a waterdrop-shaped notch at the top of the display and packs a rear mounted fingerprint sensor.

Redmi Note 7 Price

The Redmi Note 7 comes in three variants,

  • 3GB RAM + 32GB inbuilt storage- CNY 999 (roughly Rs. 10,300)
  • 4GB RAM + 64GB inbuilt storage- CNY 1199 (roughly Rs. 12,400)
  • 6GB RAM + 64GB inbuilt storage- CNY 1399 (roughly Rs. 14,500)

The phone will go on sale in China starting tomorrow i.e. 15 January. The phone comes with gradient finish and there will be three colour options available for the users- Twilight Gold, Fantasy Blue, and Bright Black.

There is no word yet on the availability of the device outside of China, but it is expected to hit the Indian market soon considering the significance of the market for the company.

Redmi Note 7 Software and Hardware Configuration

The Redmi Note 7 comes with a 6.3-inch full-HD+ LTPS display with 1080×2340 pixel screen resolution and an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. The display is protected by 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 5. Under the hood, the device is powered by 2.2GHz Snapdragon 660 octa-core SoC along with Adreno 512 graphics. The RAM options are 3GB, 4GB, and 6GB, while the inbuilt storage options are 32GB and 64GB. There is an option to expand the storage further up to 256GB via microSD card.

For the camera buffs, there’s vertically stacked dual camera set up on the back which is placed at the top left corner and consists of a 48MP primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture + a 5MP secondary sensor for capturing depth shots. There’s a 13-megapixel snapper on the front for selfies and video calls. The front camera also doubles up as AI Face Unlock and features AI smart beauty, AI single shot blur, among others.

The dual-SIM phone is backed by a 4,000mAh battery with Quick Charge 4 support. The battery can provide up to 251 hours of standby time, 23 hours of talk time, 13 hours of video playback, and 7 hours of gaming as claimed by the company.

Xiaomi’s CEO Lei Jun on Weibo has claimed that the Redmi Note 7 comes with watertight seals which is something not seen on phones in this price range. For connectivity purpose, the phone features SB Type-C port, 3.5mm audio jack, 4G VoLTE, GPS, AGPS, GLONASS, Bluetooth v5, and Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac.
