The “which brand comes up with the best Smartphone,” race just got more competitive. With the demand for mobile phones that go beyond the usual needs reaching new heights, mobile phone manufacturers have to constantly better their products in order to impress the consumers. Xiaomi is one such brand that constantly comes up with new products and at such competitive prices that the user has no option but to consider Xiaomi phones as a potential buy.
Xiaomi’s CEO Lei Jun, on the occasion of the company’s fifth anniversary, made public two new products- the Mi Note (pink edition) and the Redmi 2A. The Redmi 2A is the more affordable counterpart of the Redmi 2, which was launched earlier this year in India. The phone is expected to be available in the market for about Rs.6,000/-. The 2A holds the same aesthetic appeal as its predecessor with minor changes being made only to the technical specs of the phone.
The new Redmi 2A will have a Leadcore L1860C 1.5GHz quad-core processor with 1GB RAM that promises to give you a smooth app operating experience with its fluid processing and glitch less app switching capabilities. The internal memory of 8GB can be supplemented by another 32 GB using the external memory card slot. When it comes to its OS, unfortunately the phone is still eating the KitKat and hasn’t advanced to eating the Lollipop yet.
When it comes to its display, the 2A is a good enough 4.7” screen with 720×1280 pixels resolution and a pixel density of 312 per inch. Viewing videos and pictures, playing games will be easy for the user, thanks to the big screen and brilliant resolution. The primary camera is a pleasing 8MP with flash while the front camera is a decent 2MP which will make it appealing for selfie lovers and those who video call often. Like the Redmi 2, this one too comes with a 2200mAh battery that easily lasts for a full day with average phone usage. Its dimensions are 134.00 x 67.20 x 9.40, which might be considered a bit bulky by some but otherwise falls within the range that other Smartphones in a similar price bracket fall under.
The Redmi 2A is a convenient, dual SIM phone that has 4G capabilities. Combined with the fast processor and RAM, the phone is sure to make browsing the web and watching videos online a good experience. As far as other connectivity options are concerned, the Redmi 2A will be Wi-Fi and Bluetooth enabled. It won’t have the NFC feature though.
The Smartphone will be available for purchase in China from April 8 and in India it will be available in India soon after, supposedly later in the Year. However, it remains to be seen if it will be launching in India or will the consumers here have to opt for its predecessor, the Redmi 2. It being the most inexpensive Smartphone by the Chinese brand to be launched yet, the Redmi 2A is sure to be a hit with those looking for a great phone at a great price!
