XIAOMI’S MI MAX MAKES IT ‘BIG’ IN THE PHABLET MARKET
With a screen size of 6.4”, Xiaomi made sure that its latest Smartphone was big enough to be noticed. However, it needn’t have worried, for the Mi Max is everything that a Smartphone user would want, and that too at a stunningly competitive price. Let’s dig a little deeper into what exactly makes Mi Max such a big thing, shall we?
A 6.4” screen with a display resolution of 1920x1080p is what you get with the Mi Max. Yes, that makes the Xiaomi Smartphone a phablet which essentially means that you have a device that can act as an ebook reader for a George R.R. Martin book, or perhaps as an immersive media player that allows you to watch the latest Game of Thrones episode in all its glory. Even better, how about the 4G connectivity on the Mi Max which can combine with the humongous screen to allow you to stream the latest theories of GoT on YouTube?
At 7.5mm, the phone feels quite sleek, almost as much as the Apple iPhone 6S which measures 7.1mm.
The screen size isn’t the only ‘Max’ thing about the phone. The Mi Max comes in two variants, depending on the Dragon that breathes fire into the Smartphone. Variant #1 incorporates the powerful Snapdragon 650 hexa-core 1.8GHz processor with 3GB RAM + 32GB Flash, priced at ₹14, 999. Variant #2 boasts of a Snapdragon 652 octa-core 1.8GHz processor with 4GB RAM + 128GB Flash; these better specs come for a higher price of ₹19, 999. The Adreno 510 GPU ensures that your gaming is serious business. With no lags and glitches, even the most power hungry games will play smoothly on the Mi Max.

What’s the use of such a big screen if you can’t click brilliant pictures or take videos and view them in utmost clarity? Thankfully, Mi Max takes care of that aspect too. It comes with a 16MP primary camera and PDAF which gets you a little closer to feeling like a pro snapper. The 5MP front camera comes with an 85° wide angle so that taking groupies is as easy as selfies.
The dual SIM phone boasts of a battery capacity that is in line with the ambitious nature of Xiaomi- a powerful 4850mAh battery that will keep you company even as you excitedly multitask with the equally powerful phone. Security is promised with the fingerprint sensor located at the back of the phone. It will be shipped with the MIUI 7 OS, based on Android Marshmallow, with an OTA update to the MIUI 8 iteration promised, starting July 11. An interesting feature in the Mi Max is the ability to take scrolling screenshot!
To be made available in colour options- silver, gold and dark grey – Mi Max will be up for grabs on mi.com on July 6 in a flash sale. If you miss out on that, don’t worry; you can buy the superphone on Flipkart, Amazon, Paytm, or Snapdeal from July 13.
