Xiaomi has unveiled its Mi AirDots Youth Edition which is a truly wireless pair of earphones. Xiaomi intends to take on the Apple AirPods head on with this launch. The AirDots earphones come with Bluetooth v5.0 support.  It sports a dedicated touch zone that can be seen on each earbud. Using this touch feature, users can perform actions such as enabling or disabling voice assistant. They can also play and pause music, or answer and reject calls by just a touch using their fingers.

The Mi AirDots comes with true wireless stereo (TWS) technology just like the Apple AirPods. It splits the audio perfectly into both the earbuds thus creating a truly wireless audio experience for the users.

The Xiaomi Mi AirDots Youth Edition is presently available for pre-order in China. The price of the earphone is CNY 199 which roughly converts to around Rs. 2,100. The sale of the earphones will begin on November 11 through Xiaomi Mall, Xiaomi Youpin, Tmall, Jingdong, and Suning.

The earphones feature 7.2mm audio drivers which is believed to produce deep bass and high-quality stereo audio. The earphones don’t come with a physical button to control the playback as the touch zone offers this facility and much more. It is interesting to note that users can just touch the earbuds to mute an ongoing voice call, without having to do it through the display screen of the connected phone.

Xiaomi sports Bluetooth v5.0 on the Mi AirDots Youth Edition. As the latest Bluetooth connectivity support is backward compatible, it can work with devices having Bluetooth v4.2 or older connectivity options. Bluetooth v5.0 also enables the device to operate with less power and offers a longer operating range with lesser impact from Wi-Fi signals as compared to previous Bluetooth versions.

The charging case of the Mi AirDots Youth Edition enables to deliver up to 12 hours of power in one charge. Users can also put the earphones into the case to charge them without having to use an external charging source.

The Mi AirDots Youth Edition can deliver up to four hours of playback time in stereo mode and up to five hours of playback time in mono mode on a single charge, if what Xiaomi claims is to be believed.
