Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite Launched in China Snapdragon 660 SoC and 24MP Selfie Camera Launched in China

Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi is extending its Mi 8 family. The company has launched Mi 8 Lite variant along with Mi 8 Pro at its hometown China. The Mi 8 Pro could be the global variant of Mi 8 Explorer, while the Mi 8 Lite will be a mid-range offering placed below Mi 8.

Mi 8 Lite Price and Availability:

The Mi 8 is the most affordable smartphone in the Mi 8 series and is targeted at young buyers. The Mi 8 Lite base variant i.e. 4GB RAM + 64GB storage variant comes with a price tag of CNY 1,399 (roughly Rs. 14,800), whereas the mid variant i.e. 6GB + 64GB storage is priced at CNY 1,699 (roughly Rs. 18,000). The top variant i.e. 6GB RAM + 128GB storage variant comes with a price tag of CNY 1,999 (roughly Rs. 21,000). The phone is already available for pre-order and the shipping will start from September 25. There will be three color options available for the buyers- Aurora Blue, Sunset Gold, and Midnight Black.

Mi 8 Lite Software and Hardware Configuration:

The Mi 8 Lite sports a 6.26-inch FHD+ 2.5D curved glass display with 1080 x 2280 pixel resolution, aspect ratio of 19:9 and a notch at the top. The device draws power from Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset along with 4GB or 6GB of RAM and Adreno 512 GPU. There are two options in terms of inbuilt storage- 64GB and 128GB.

In the camera department, you get dual rear camera set up comprising of a 12MP primary sensor with f/1.9 aperture and a 5MP secondary unit with f/2.0 aperture for depth sensing. The selfie camera is 24MP Sony IMX576 sensor which is capable of shooting AI-based portrait selfies. The front camera also doubles up as Face Unlock. The company claims that it can work flawlessly even in low lighting condition. In addition, the phone also features a rear mounted fingerprint sensor for security purpose.

The device runs Android Oreo-based MIUI 10 out of the box and is fueled by a 3350mAh battery with support for Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0
