Back in April this year, we saw Xiaomi launch the Mi 4i, and this time the Chinese smartphone giant plans to take it all a step forward by introducing the Mi 4c. Though in terms of features, the two may seem to be walking hand in hand, there are a few specs that push one above the other. Below is a quick comparison.

Read the specifications and you would be like, ‘Man! That isn’t a big deal. Almost every other phone these days has a 5-inch display…and just 16 GB of storage space? Is that even enough?’ Well, if you don’t plan to dump all your personal data onto your phone, than it’s more than enough.
Let’s come to the point. These are budget phones targeted towards customers not intending to spend too much but would still want to own a smartphone with some fancy features. So, it won’t be wise to compare these with the iPhone 6 or probably the Samsung Galaxy Edge.
Alright! Now let’s talk in detail about the features.
No doubt, the Mi 4c and the Mi 4i share almost the same features. However, the former will come preloaded with the latest Android version 5.1.1, while the latter run on Android 5.0.2.
The Mi 4c packs in a Snapdragon 808 chipset, 1.4 GHz hexa-core processor. For all the non-geeky brains, a hexa-core processor features 6 different cores, each of which operates independently, thereby offering you a better performance.
The Mi 4i on the other hand is powered by an 8-core processor clocked at 1.7 GHz, which is bound to make it slightly faster than the Mi 4c when it comes to dealing with graphic-heavy applications.
In terms of RAM, the Mi 4c comes with two variants. If you pick the 2GB RAM variant, you get a storage space of 16 GB. The 3 GB RAM model comes with 32 GB of internal storage. Whereas, Mi 4i features a 2 GB RAM and has a storage space of 16 GB.
Mi 4i features a 2 GB RRAM and has a storage space of 16 GB.
The Mi 4c and the Mi 4i, both feature a 13 MP primary camera and sport a 5 MP front-facing snapper. Moreover, they also pack in the same 3120 mAh Li-Ion battery. Here lies the delicious piece of cake. How many phones feature a 13 MP rear camera? Not many, right?
According to the recent reports, the to-be-launched Mi 4c will include a USB – Type C adapter and will weigh not more than 130 grams, which is truly impressive. The connection options include 3G, GPRS/EDGE and 4G LTE.
A few reports also claim that Xiaomi will be building only 100,000 units of the new Mi 4c. However, the news has not yet been confirmed. But, if it turns out to be a reality, you might want to place your order right away before they all go out of stock.
Now that we have talked about placing the order, also lets talk about the price. You spend around $235 (approx. Rs. 16000) on the 16 GB variant, whereas the 32 GB model comes with a price tag of $250 (approx. Rs. 17000). The Xiaomi Mi 4i, on the other hand, is available at the best price of Rs. 13000.
So, if budget seems to be a huddle, you might want to go with the Mi 4i. However, if 16GB storage is too less for you, the Mi 4c with 32 GB of internal storage would be the right choice.
