Redmi Note 3
After all the initial leaks report and rumours about the Redmi Note 3, Xiaomi has finally put all the speculations to rest as it officially unveiled the new Flagship phablet at the Media Event. The new phablet is the successor of the popular and much acclaimed Redmi Note 2, which was launched earlier this year. The new phone is available for sales only in China as of now at a price of about 899 Yuan, (around Rs. 9,500) but the phone will hit the shelves worldwide soon.
As suggested in the various leaks, the new Redmi Note 3 features a full metal unibody design. Despite the use of metal, it weighs just about 164 grams, which shows the brilliant craftsmanship of the phone. The phone is available in 3 colours – Dark Grey, Gold and Silver. It is the first phone in Xiaomi’s portfolio that features a Fingerprint scanner just below the rear camera; the brand says the scanner is ultra-fast and it unlocks the device in 0.3 seconds.
The Redmi Note 3 will be available in two variants based on its internal storage capacity – 16 GB and 32 GB. The phone features a 5.5 inch HD screen with a display resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. On the hardware front, it is powered by 2 GHz MediaTek Helio X10 Octa-core 64 bit chipset, 2 GB RAM (the 32 GB Variant has 3 GB RAM). For photography lovers, Xiaomi has loaded Redmi Note 3 with a 13 MP snapper with LED flash and face detection auto support features that assure you click brilliant pictures every time you use the camera. There is also a 5 MP front camera to capture selfies.
Xiaomi Mi Pad 2
In the lead up to the event the Redmi Note 3 hogged all the limelight, leading the Mi Pad 2 to be the underdog and failed to catch the attention of the consumers. But at the launch event, the tides were turned in favour of the Mi Pad as it grabbed all the eyeballs and drew the awe of the onlookers present at the event.
The tablet features a 7.9 inch screen with 2048 x 1536 pixel resolution and it runs on Android v 5.x Lollipop. Xiaomi also announced another version of the tablet with Windows OS, and boasts of 8MP back and 5MP front camera. The Mi Pad 2 is has a significantly thinner design than its predecessor model and it measures just about 6.95 mm thick, it is also quite lightweight, about 322 grams.
On the hardware front Xiaomi has taken out the NVIDIA’s Tegra K1 processor and replaced it with Intel X5 Z8500 2.24 GHz 64 bit processor. Also, the tablet features 2 GB RAM and Intel HD graphics card that makes gaming and video watching a delightful experience. It comes with 6190 mAh battery and uses USB Type-C port for charging. The device comes in two variants – 16 GB and 64 GB, it is quite sad that this Wi-Fi only tablet doesn’t come with expandable storage feature.
Xiaomi Mi Air Purifier 2
Although, the Mi Purifier 2 didn’t create any stir in the market with its specs leaks and rumours, it certainly garnered huge attention from the consumers at the Xiaomi launch event. Understandably so, it is such a useful product for everyone. The Mi Air Purifier 2 is the successor of the air purifier machine that was released last year.
Keeping in mind the ease of use, Xiaomi has specially designed the Air Purifier 2 to be lightweight and compact in size. The device measures just about 520 x 240 mm, which means that it would occupy as much space as an A4 sized paper. The purifier features dual booster fans and a single motor. The purifier has 3 layers of filter – pre-filter, HEPA filter and activated carbon filter.
Xiaomi says that this new iteration of Purifier is 11% quieter than its previous edition and its night mode feature allows making just about 30 decibels of noise. According to the company, the Air Purifier 2, in terms of performance, has the capacity to clear air at a rate of 388 CBM (cubic meter) per hour. The company adds that the new generation air purifier is up to 58% more power efficient than its earlier model. With such awesome features it is definitely a must have device for all households. It comes with a price tag of 699RMB (approx. Rs.7200). It’s filters alone are priced at 149RMB (approx. Rs.1, 550).
If you are already intrigued to get your hands on these amazing devices, alas! You have to wait a bit longer as they are available only in China for now and it may take a while (not sure when exactly) before they hit the Indian markets.
