After several leaks and teaser, Xiaomi funded Black Shark has finally unveiled its much anticipated gaming smartphone in China. It is still unknown if the phone will be launched outside of company’s hometown China. The phone is specially designed for gamers and has features that support long gaming durations.

As mentioned, the phone was subject to several leaks before the launch and most of the speculations were accurate. As expected, the phone comes in two variants- 6GB RAM + 64GB ROM and 8GB RAM + 128GB ROM. The base variant is priced at CNY 2,999 (approx. Rs. 31,165) and top variant is priced at CNY 3,499 (approx. Rs. 36,360). There are two colour options- Polar Night Black and Sky Gray. Interested buyers can place orders for the phone from today and the shipping will commence from April 20.

In addition, the company also announced Black Shark Gamepad which can be attached to the side of the phone while playing games. The device can be connected to the phone via Bluetooth and it has a 340 mAh battery which can last up to 30 gaming hours. As an introductory offer, the first 50,000 buyers will be eligible to get the Shark Gamepad free of cost.

Black Shark Design, Features and Specifications:

Being a gaming phone, the Black Shark sports a design which will be embraced by gaming lovers. It features cooling technology to keep the temperature under control while playing graphics-intensive games. Company claims that the cooling technology used in the phone can cool down the CPU by about 8 degrees. The phone also features a Shark key by which the phone can instantly enter into a turbo performance mode to offer the users an immersive gaming experience.

The phone boasts a 6-inch full-HD+ display with resolution of 1080×2160 pixels, brightness of 550 nits and aspect ratio of 18:9. It is powered by a 2.8 GHz octa-core Snapdragon 845 with Adreno 630 GPU for graphics coupled with 6GB/8GB RAM and 64GB/128GB ROM, with no microSD card support. The phone will be shipped with latest Android 8.0 Oreo operating system out of the box. Being a gaming phone, it is backed by a massive 4,000 mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support.

Talking of the optics, there’s a dual (12MP + 20MP) camera setup at the rear with aperture rate of f/1.75 each and dual-LED flash. At the front, there’s a 20MP selfie snapper with aperture rate of f/2.2. The phone also has a fingerprint sensor placed at the bottom of the display.

In terms of dimensions, the Black Shark measures 161.62mm x 75.4mm x 9.25mm. Its weight is a bit on the higher side at 190 grams, thanks to the metal frame and back cover. Connectivity options include- 4G VoLTE, dual band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0 and USB Type-C chord.

The Black Shark will compete against Razer Phone which was launched last year for gaming purpose.
