Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi entered the gaming industry with the launch of its Black Shark gaming smartphone which came with Snapdragon 845 SoC. The phone got an upgrade later on and was called the Black Shark Helo which boasted of massive power upgrades. And now the company seems to be upgrading the phone once again based on the recent listing spotted on benchmarking site Geekbench. As per the listing, the upgraded version will be called Xiaomi Black Shark Skywalker, which will be powered by Snapdragon 855 SoC and will feature at least 8GB of RAM. The phone will reportedly run Android Pie operating system out of the box. The smartphone gets a single-core score of 3,494 and a multi-core score of 11,149. These similar scores are also seen on other Snapdragon 855 phones. Notably, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor comes along with X50 LTE modem, which will enable the 5G connectivity on the devices powered by the same.

To recall, the first version i.e. Xiaomi Black Shark was launched China in April in company’s home town China. So, we can expect the Skywalker variant to be launched around the same time this year or it could probably be announced during Mobile World Congress (MWC) which is scheduled from 25-28 February.

For those who are interested, the Skywalker’s predecessor Black Shark Helo was the first to come with an impressive 10GB of RAM and was powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC along with Adreno 630 GPU for graphics. It features a 6.01-inch full-HD+ (1,080 x 2,160 pixels) AMOLED screen with 18:9 aspect ratio. In terms of optics, the phone features a dual rear camera set up comprising of a 12-megapixel primary sensor with f/1.75 aperture + a 20-megapixel secondary sensor with f/1.75 aperture. For selfies, there is a 24-megapixel selfie camera with f/2.2 aperture. To keep things ticking, there’s a 4,000mAh battery under the hood which comes with fast charging support.
