A lot of recent speculations point to the possible gaming smartphone that will come from Xiaomi’s stable to compete with Razer Phone and its likes. The latest reports surfacing on the internet indicate that the “Black Shark” may have an official launch on 13th April.

The smartphone is called “Black Shark” as Xiaomi is developing this gaming phone in collaboration with Black Shark. This has happened as part of Xiaomi investing in Black Shark to launch new gaming devices. On the official Weibo accounts of Xiaomi and Black Shark, the official invite for a launch event for this gaming smartphone in China. While this development does not necessarily confirm the launch, it does indicate a robust partnership between Xiaomi and Black Shark to focus on gaming devices.

The details of its specifications are not out yet, but the smartphone appears to have high-end specifications such as Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 SoC, 8 GB of RAM, and 128 or 256 GB of internal memory. If reports are to be believed, the phone could also have a screen refresh rate of 120 Hz, like the Razer Phone.

This device, under the codename “Black Shark” was earlier spotted on the AnTuTu benchmarking website. As per the benchmarks, the phone will feature a Full HD 18:9 display and will be powered by Android Oreo 8.0 out-of-the-box. It scores very high at 270,680. To give a comparative, this score is slightly higher than that of Mi Mix 2S’ score of 270,461.

There are also unconfirmed rumours regarding the launch of a hand-hel compatible controller to be launched by Xiaomi. However, Xiaomi has not revealed any details about the event nor has it given any official announcement on the launch event.
