Recently, Asus launched its budget flagship Zenfone 6 smartphone in Spain, which is yet to be launched in India but is expected to arrive soon in the country as it is found listed on eCommerce giant Flipkart.com. Another OEM, Xiaomi, recently launched its Black Shark 2 gaming smartphone which also falls in the category of affordable flagships. The Xiaomi Black Shark 2 is recently launched in India (27th May) with a starting price tag of Rs. 39,999 for the base variant with 6GB RAM and 128GB inbuilt storage. The top variant with 12GB RAM and 256GB inbuilt storage is priced at Rs. 49,999. The phone will be sold online in India via eCommerce giant Flipkart starting from June 4. The phone will be offered in Shadow Black and Frozen Silver colour options.

As mentioned earlier, the Asus Zenfone 6 was launched in Spain last week and is expected to hit the Indian market soon as its listing was recently spotted on Flipkart.com. However, the exact launch date and pricing details in India are still under the wraps. In global market, the phone’s starting price is EUR 499 (roughly Rs. 39,100) for the base variant with 6GB RAM + 64GB inbuilt Storage. The mid varinat with 6GB RAM + 128GB inbuilt Storage is priced at EUR 559 (roughly Rs. 43,800) and the top variant with 8GB RAM + 256GB inbuilt Storage is priced at EUR 599 (roughly Rs. 47,000). The actual price in India will be slightly higher than converted here. The phone is available in Midnight Black and Twilight Silver options in global markets.

The OnePlus 7 Pro debuted in India on 15th May and is priced starting at Rs. 48,999 for the base variant with 6GB RAM and 128GB inbuilt storage. The mid-variant i.e. 8GB RAM + 256GB inbuilt storage is will be available at a price of Rs. 52,999. Whereas the top variant with 12GB RAM and 256GB inbuilt storage will be available at Rs. 57,999. The top variant will come in Nebula Blue colour only, while the other variants will be available in Mirror Grey, Almond and Nebula Blue colour options.

The Xiaomi Black Shark 2 bears a 6.39-inch full-HD+ (1080×2340 pixels) AMOLED display along with TrueView Display support, 19.5:9 aspect ratio, and 403ppi of pixel density. The display comes with a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection on top. In terms of dimensions, it measures 63.61 x 75.01 x 8.77 mm and weighs about 205 grams.

The Asus Zenfone 6 comes equipped with 6.4-inch full-HD+ (1080×2340 pixels) IPS screen with 19.5:9 aspect ratio. It measures 159.1 x 75.11 x 8.1-9.1 mm and weighs about 190 grams. It also comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection.

The Oneplus 7 Pro flaunts a bigger 6.67-inch Fluid AMOLED display with an aspect ratio of 19.5:9, a pixel density of 516ppi, a refresh rate of 90Hz, and support for sRGB and DCI-P3 colour gamuts. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5, and the company claims it has received a A+ rating from DisplayMate. The phone has dimensions of 162.6 x 75.9 x 8.8 mm and weight of about 206 grams.

In terms of display, the Oneplus 7 Pro wins the battle. In terms of dimensions as well the Oneplus 7 Pro is slimmest as well as the lightest of the three phones.

The Xiaomi Black Shark 2 is powered by Snapdragon 855 chipset making it the second phone in India after the OnePlus 7 Pro to feature the same. This is accompanied by Adreno 640 GPU, up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB inbuilt storage. Being a gaming phone, it also sports a proprietary Liquid Cool 3.0 technology that is designed to increase heat dissipation by 20 times. Further, the phone has a pressure-sensing Magic Press technology.

The ASUS Zenfone 6 is powered by octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC, paired with up to 8GB of RAM and Adreno 640 GPU. It packs up to 256GB of inbuilt storage which can be expanded up to 2TB using a dedicated microSD card slot.

The OnePlus 7 Pro draws its power from Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor, and it comes with either 6GB, 8GB or 12GB of RAM. In terms of onboard storage, there are are two options 128GB or 256GB. The phone uses UFS 3.0 storage.

In terms of performance, all three phones are backed by Qualcomm’s powerful Snapdragon 855 SoC, but the Black Shark 2 gets a slight upper hand as it comes equipped with exclusive gaming-centric features such as Liquid Cool 3.0 technology and pressure-sensing Magic Press technology.

The Xiaomi Black Shark 2 runs on Joy UI based on Google’s latest Android 9 Pie OS out of the box. The Asus Zenfone 6 runs on Android 9.0 Pie with the company’s Zen UI 6 on top, while the Oneplus 7 Pro runs on Oxygen OS which is based on Android 9 Pie.

The Xioami Black Shark 2 comes equipped with a dual camera setup on the back consisting of a 48-megapixel primary sensor with an f/1.75 lens + a 12-megapixel secondary sensor with an f/2.2 lens. The rear camera setup supports 2x optical zoom. The front hosts a 20-megapixel snapper with an f/2.0 lens on top for selfies and video calls.

The Asus Zenfone 6 packs a dual rear camera setup comprising of a 48-megapixel primary shooter with f/1.79 aperture and dual-LED flash + 13-megapixel secondary ultra-wide-angle camera. The primary camera gets a Sony IMX586 sensor. The rear cameras are flipped to the front to take selfies and do video calls. It is the world’s phone to have such a setup.

The Oneplus 7 Pro bears a triple rear camera set up consisting of a 48-megapixel primary sensor + a 16-megapixel wide-angle sensor and an 8-megapixel telephoto camera triple camera setup.
