When-Only-Love-RemainsThe plot of the play tends to intrigue you. There are too many twists and turns in the story which keep you engaged. This is the first of Durjoy Dutta books which has a touch of melancholy to it. The start of the novel tends to make you feel bored but as the story progresses, you get more involved in it. Though it teaches you strength and dignity, a lot of preference is given to good looks. The middle of the story is all lovey dovey and makes you fall in love with the idea of love itself. The middle, romantic part is short lived but intense. The end is shocking and unpredictable. It is too long and stretched out just like the start. The end is very amusing and once you finish reading it, it makes you look and feel about yourself. You are sure to thank God for keeping you in ‘One Piece’.

The female lead, Avanti, is a carefree girl who is independent, strong minded, lives her dream and a free spirit. Even though she had a troubled and disturbing childhood she never lets it doom her. It is the male lead, Devrat, whose songs draw her out of her fear and insecurities.

On the other hand, Devrat, who inspires people like Avanti to live, leads a miserable life, a heart broken ‘puppy’ with beautiful big eyes. No sooner Avanti’s liking turns into love and then into obsession. They meet each other and fall in love, which is too predictable as both find each other pretty enough to love.

When Devrat meets with an accident, she leaves all life worries and stays with him in the hospital waiting for her puppy to get up. After coming out of coma, Devrat isn’t able to move any part of his body except that he could wiggle his thumb. He claims he wants death but Avanti’s witty mind tricks him into taking another chance at life.

A story of true love, inspiration and grit!! The female is shown to be strong depicting the author’s sense of equality. It is meant for those people who are cynical about love though everyone can have a read.
