Realme, the former Oppo subsidiary, launched its Realme 3 (successor to Realme 2) smartphone in India on March 4. The device recently went on sale the country and the company claims that it has managed to sell over 2,10,000 units. It initially sold 1,50,000 units through the first sale. The phone went on sale twice on Tuesday (12th March) and about 60,000 units were supposedly sold during the second round of sale. In case you missed out on the first round of sale, the company has announced the next date as March 19 (12 noon). The sale will be hosted through eCommerce giant Flipkart.com and Realme’s own site Realme.com.

The Realme 3 starting price in India is set at Rs. 8,999 which is for the base variant with 3GB RAM and 32GB inbuilt storage. The top variant i.e. 4GB RAM + 64GB inbuilt storage is priced in India at Rs. 10,999. Currently there are two colour options available for the interested buyers- Black and Dynamic Black. However, a third Radiant Blue colour variant will go on sale for the first time on March 26. Realme has also announced an Iconic Case for the phone that comes in Black, Diamond Blue, and Yellow colour options, and is priced at Rs. 599.
In terms of specifications, the Realme 3 sports a 6.2-inch full-HD+ display with 720×1520 pixel screen resolution and a 19:9 aspect ratio. The phone touts an 88.3 per cent screen-to-body ratio. The display comes with a tiny water drop shaped notch at the top and features a Corning Gorilla Glass layer of protection against scratches. Under the hood, the device draws power from octa-core MediaTek Helio P70 12nm processor clocked at 2GHz with ARM Mali-G72 MP3 GPU. In terms of memory, there are two variants- 3GB RAM + 32GB inbuilt storage ad 4GB RAM + 64GB inbuilt storage. It is shipped with Android Pie-based ColorOS 6.0 (company’s first device to run the same) out of the box and is backed by a 4,230mAh capacity battery.
In terms of optics, there’s a dual rear set up consisting of a 13-megapixel primary sensor with an f/1.8 aperture, PDAF and 5P lens + a 2-megapixel secondary depth sensor. The rear camera features Portrait Mode and scene recognition. For selfies, there’s a 13MP camera with f/2.0 aperture. The front camera also doubles up as Face Unlock and features AI Beautification as well as HDR.
