Chinese smartphone manufacturer Vivo has recently launched Vivo X23 in its hometown China, which is the successor to Vivo X21. The highlight of Vivo X21 is that its world’s first smartphone to feature an in-display fingerprint scanner. Needless to mention, the Vivo X23 as well features the in-display  xe54syjy fingerprint scanner but it is an improvised version which means it is faster than the one present in Vivo X21. The phone is expected to face stiff competition from Oppo R17 and Vivo V11 Pro. We’ll compare the three phones on the below parameters to find out which one provides better value for money,

Vivo X23 vs Oppo R17 vs Vivo V11 Pro: Design and Display

The Vivo X23 sports a typical design language as that of other Vivo smartphones launched in the recent past i.e. glass and aluminium design. However, it sports a unique water drop like notch at the top and an in-display fingerprint scanner. The phone features 6.41-inch full-HD+ Super AMOLED display with 1080×2340 pixel resolution and 19.5:9 aspect ratio.

The Oppo R17 6.4-inch fullHD+ display with 1080×2280 pixel resolution and 91.5 percent screen-to-body ratio. The display sports a Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection on top and has an in-display fingerprint sensor.

The Vivo V11 Pro also sports a 6.41-inch Super AMOLED screen with aspect ratio of 19.5:9 and  waterdrop-like notch above and screen-to-body ratio of 91.27 per cent. It features a very slight chin at the bottom and a water drop like notch at the top. Vivo V11 Pro too has an in-display fingerprint scanner.

There is no clear winner in this department as all three phones are almost at par with each other.

The Vivo X23 draws power from an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 670 processor clocked up to 2.0GHz along with 8GB of RAM. The inbuilt storage capacity of the device is 128GB.

The Oppo R17 is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 670 SoC paired with 6GB or 8GB of RAM. The onboard storage capacity is also similar to that of Vivo X23 i.e. 128GB.

While the Vivo V11 Pro is fueled by Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC paired with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The storage can be expanded further up to 256GB via microSD card.

The Vivo X23 and Oppo R17 are neck-to-neck in terms of processor and storage, whereas the Vivo V11 Pro lags a bit behind.

The Vivo X23 runs Funtouch OS 4.5 based on Google’s latest Android 8.1 Oreo operating system and is backed by a 3,400mAh battery with 22.5W fast charging support.

The Oppo R17 is shipped with ColorOS 5.2 based on Android Oreo 8.1 and is fueled by a 3,500mAh battery that is powered by Oppo’s proprietary VOOC fast charging technology.

The Vivo V11 Pro runs Android Oreo 8.1 operating system out of the box topped with company’s own Funtouch OS. The battery capacity of the phone is 3,400mAh and it comes with dual engine fast charging support which ensures that the battery remains safe while refilling it quickly.

Let’s now discuss the camera configurations for the camera buffs. All three phones come with dual rear camera set up.

The Vivo X23 sports a vertically stacked dual camera set up which consists of 12-megapixel primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture and a 13-megapixel secondary sensor with 125-degree super wide-angle lens and f/2.4 aperture. The front hosts a 12-megapixel camera with f/2.0 aperture for selfies and video calls.

The Oppo R17 bears a horizontally stacked dual camera set up situated at the center. It comprises of 16-megapixel primary sensor and a 5-megapixel secondary sensor along with an LED flash. The front features a 25-megapixel Sony IMX576 selfie snapper with f/2.0 aperture. The front camera also features AI-backed Portrait mode and other features to click quality selfies.

The Vivo V11 Pro comes with a 12MP + 5MP dual camera set up with f/1.8 and f/2.4 aperture lenses. For selfies, there’s a 25MP snapper on the front with an aperture of f/2.0. The selfie camera is equipped several AI backed features like AI selfie lighting, AI portrait framing, AR stickers and more

Vivo X23 vs Oppo R17 vs Vivo V11 Pro: Price

Last but not the least, let us have a look at the pricing of three devices. The Vivo X23 launched in China with a price tag of CNY 3,498 which is roughly Rs. 36,500. There is no word yet on the launch of the phone is India.

The Oppo R17 6GB RAM + 128GB storage variant is priced in China at CNY 3,199 (roughly Rs. 33,750), while the 8GB RAM + 128GB storage variant is priced at CNY 3,499 (roughly Rs. 36,900). The phone is one of the best sellers in China.

The Vivo V11 Pro is the only phone out of the three which is currently available in India. It comes in single memory variant i.e. 6GB RAM + 64GB storage and is priced at Rs. 25,990.

All three phones come with decent set of specifications for the price tag they feature. All three of them have the latest in-display fingerprint scanners. It is difficult to pick a clear winner, but our verdict is to go for either the Vivo X23 for slightly better specifications or the Oppo R17 for its pricing.
