Vivo has announced two new handsets, X20 and X20 Plus a media event in China. What makes these handsets stand out is the bezel-less design on relatively affordable price. Both the X20 and X20 Plus boast a metal unibody construction with an ultra-fine zirconium sand spray process for a premium feel. The front being dominated by the bezel-less display, the rear is reminiscent of the One Plus 5 as it gets the dual-lens camera and fingerprint sensor.
Vivo, like its compatriot Oppo, is known for focusing on camera tech, and the X20 pair is no exception. These phones feature dual-lens rear cameras. It comprises of a 12 MP f/1.8 + 5 MP configuration for excellent bokeh effect images. The front 12 MP f/2.0 sensor also promises to take quality selfie shots. Both the smartphones are powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 660 clocked at 2.2 GHz. The X20 and X20 Plus both run FunTouch OS 3.0 based on Android Nougat 7.1. It also gets Vivo’s new ‘Face Wake’ feature which unlocks the phone in one tenth of a second and claims to detect up to 128 different facial features.
Talking about the differentiating factor of both the devices, the Vivo X20 being the smaller of the two, 6-inch Full HD display with 18:9 aspect ratio. With minimum bezels on the top and bottom. The smartphone packs in a 3245 mAh battery.
The Vivo X20 Plus sports a 6.43-inch Super AMOLED display. The rear dual camera setup gets OIS (Optical Image Stabilisation) on this one for those steady shots. Music enthusiasts would be pleased as the X20 Plus gets ES9318 DAC + amp for Hi-Fi audio. It also packs in a bigger capacity battery of 3905 mAh under the hood.
The phones will come in Gold, Rose Gold and Matte Black options. The prices for Vivo X20 will start at CNY 2998 (Rs 30,000) for the 4 GB / 64 GB variant while the 128 GB variant will make you poorer by CNY 3398 ( $515). The Plus variant will cost CNY 3498 (Rs 35,000) for the lone 4 GB / 64 GB version.
