The Chinese tech giant has finally unveiled its all-new Vivo X80 series for the Indian market, the brand has made the announcement on May 17. Unlike last year, Vivo has only announced two models; standard and Pro, under the X80 series. Last year, it also included a Pro+ variant. The lineup has already been on sale in the brand’s home market since last month and the Indian sibling is said to have identical specs.

The latest addition to the brand’s Indian portfolio will be offered at a premium price point. In the market, the Vivo X80 and X80 Pro will give a good fight to the OnePlus 10 Pro, Xiaomi 12 Pro, Realme GT 2 Pro, Galaxy S22, and more from the same price bracket.

Vivo X80 Series: Key specs & features

The duo will come with a display size of 6.78” and the AMOLED panel here will come with curved edges. The screen will also have a punch hole cutout on the top center for the front firing camera. The younger sibling Vivo X80 will produce FHD+ resolution whereas the Pro variant will sport QHD+ resolution. Both the smartphones will come with a refresh rate of 120Hz. On the Pro variant, Vivo is offering the panel with the variable refresh rate that can go as low as 1Hz. It will come with LTPO tech onboard. The duo will also come with an under display fingerprint sensor.

Coming to the design, the all-new Vivo X80 lineup will sport a larger camera bump and it’s given the rectangular shape. Inside the camera island, there will be a circular triple and quad camera system on the Vivo X80 and X80 Pro, respectively. The elder and more premium X80 Pro will also feature the IP68 water and dust resistance certification.

Digging a bit deeper in the camera module, the Vivo X80 lineup will sport the Carl Zeiss lenses. On the X80, users will get the triple camera mechanism with a primary 50-megapixel sensor. The main Sony IMX866 sensor will get paired with dual 12MP sensors for ultra-wide and telephoto shots. There will also be a 48MP ultra-wide lens accompanied by a 5x optical zoom 8MP periscope lens. The front camera on the Vivo X80 series will be 32MP.

For a better photography experience, Vivo is using its indigenously developed V1+ chip for smooth and snappy image processing. Though the camera setup will have the OIS on Vivo X80, the Pro variant will also feature the gimbal level anti-shake feature. The duo will also be equipped with 360-degree horizon stabilization in the video mode.

At its core, the standard X80 will sport MediaTek’s Dimensity 9000 SoC whereas the Pro will come with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. The top variants of the X80 series will come with 12 gigs of LPDDR5 memory. The onboard storage will be 128 GB, a UFS 3.1 type. For better heat dissipation, Vivo has equipped the duo with VC Liquid Cooling. On the Pro variant, the brand is offering 4,700 mAh battery whereas it will be 4,500 mAh on the standard Vivo X80. The smartphones will come with the fast charging support of 80W. The Pro variant further supports wireless charging up to 50W.
