samsungIt has been reported that the much awaited upcoming smart phone of Samsung, the S5, will feature in two variants- Metallic and Plastic. So there will be a premium model as well as a mid range version available. Few months back Apple launched 5C in two variants and now Samsung seems to be following the similar practice for its new flagship. It’s noted that the much awaited successor of S4 will go into mass production from January’14 and will be available by March-April’14. This clears the speculation that the device will be released at Consumer Electronic Show (CES) or Mobile World Congress (MWC) scheduled for next year in January and February respectively.

Samsung is expected to product about a million handsets initially in January and might increase the production to six million by February.

Expected specifications of S5

  • 5-inch full HD flexible OLED display
  • 16MP rear camera
  • Android 4.4 KitKat OS
  • 3GB RAM
  • 4000 mAh battery

Galaxy Gear 2:

The report also expects the launch of next generation of Samsung’s smart watch- Galaxy Gear 2. It is expected to overcome the major drawback of its predecessor Galaxy Gear, and will be comparatively 15-20% thinner. No other specifications about the new smart watch are available as of now.

Samsung is said to have already sold about 800,000 units of Galaxy Gear Worldwide in two months whereas about 50,000 units are said to be sold in South Korea alone.

The new smart watch will be released alongside the speculated launch of Galaxy S5 in March-April. This also hints at the compatibility between the two.
