Motorola has been launching a series of smartphones in the second half of 2019 under its Android One series of smartphones. The Motorola One Vision initiated this line up by bringing a new slim yet tall 21:9 form factor. The smartphone offered very good cinemascope display. The company later offered a similar specification smartphone along with an Action Camera for videographers in the Motorola One Action which was offered at a cheaper price. There have been rumours doing the rounds about its latest new smartphone offering.

The wait is now over as the Motorola One Zoom – the first Motorola phone launched in the US that carries the One branding but isn’t an Android One phone may be launched in India. As per the previous leaks, the One Zoom smartphone could be offered in the global markets as One Pro with Android One software. While the company may come up with changes on the branding and software front, the hardware under the hood is expected to be the same.

Set of quad rear cameras

The Motorola One Zoom is a delight for selfie and video lovers as it is a complete camera phone. The company has ensured the same with a quad-camera setup. What’s more, these are four clever camera systems. The primary one comes with a 48-megapixel sensor that uses pixel binning to gather more details in the photo. The second sensor is a 16-megapixel wide-angle camera that has a coverage of four times more than the standard angle.

The third camera packed in is an 8-megapixel telephoto camera that comes with 3x optical zoom which is similar to what the users of OnePlus 7 Pro enjoy. The last camera is a depth camera which comes with a 5-megapixel sensor.

For the selfie camera at the front, the smartphone maker has used a 25-megapixel camera which can delight the user with amazing selfies.

The specifications

Under the hood, Motorola has used the Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 chipset with 4GB RAM and 128GB storage as the standard variant. However, at the price point of $449 or Rs. 32,000, the price seems to be a bit on the higher side. This is true especially for a market like India where the competitors are giving better specifications at these price points. However, if the trend is anything to go by, Motorola will cut down the price as it has been doing for other smartphones. We expect the price to be around Rs 25,000 in India.

The One Zoom is the first One series phone to offer a 6.04-inch OLED screen with Full HD+ resolution. However, the smartphone misses out on the hole-punch cutout and the wider 21:9 CinemaVision display which is a key part of the other One series phones. The OLED screens has enabled the company to embed in-display fingerprint sensors. The smartphone will offer a headphone jack to the users as well.

The One Zoom is powered by a 4000mAh battery with support for Motorola’s TurboPower charging. The Motorola One Zoom is designed aesthetically. It packs in a glass rear panel with a unique camera module design. The glass panel sports a brushed aluminium-like look. If the company is to be believed, this has been done to eliminate smudges. The smartphone comes with a cool Motorola batwing logo which acts as a LED notification indicator.
