PROMISING TO BE A FLAGSHIP KILLER; THE WAIT FOR ONEPLUS 3 JUST GOT LONGERby Rajshree Faria March 28, 2016
All those waiting for the new OnePlus 3 with bated breath will have to wait a little bit longer. With the Chinese manufacturer debunking rumours of an April 7 release date of the new phone, Smartphone enthusiasts will have to wait until the end of June, as originally promised by OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei, to get their eyes on the first look of the flagship.
Nah, we at Versus, are not the harbingers of bad news; we do have some brilliant news regarding the OnePlus 3 handset, thanks to the benchmark website Antutu which has revealed (or leaked, depending on your perspective!) some of the key specifications of the not-so-soon-to-be-released phone to keep the geeks occupied till the end of Q2. Let’s take a look at what OnePlus has to offer with this new device.
If the reports are to be believed, OnePlus won’t disappoint when it comes to the processor; OnePlus 3 will be powered by Qualcomm’s latest and most ambitious chipset, Snapdragon 820, to give multitasking a new meaning. Incorporating the best in its devices is something OnePlus is known for ever since its first product launch- OnePlus One which packed in the then latest Snapdragon 101 processor for a powerful performance.
Coming to internal storage, it looks like OnePlus is doing away with its usual 16GB variant model. Apparently, the new handset will come in two variants; a 32GB model with 4GB RAM, and a 64GB one with an impressive 6GB RAM. Whatever the case may be, OnePlus 3 seems to be making all the right efforts to give the user a power-packed device with great multitasking capabilities.
Needless to say, OnePLus 3 will run on the latest Android Marshmallow operating system, customised as per OnePlus’ very own OxygenOS for use in the overseas market. With handy features like SwiftKey and Night Mode, the customisable user-interface has no frills, only usability.

Keeping up with the times where display resolution is one of the crucial factors in deciding whether a product will appeal to prospective buyers or not, OnePlus 3 will boast of a 1080 x 1920p display resolution which translates to 401 PPI pixel density. Protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4, the 5.5” screen will surely help you with every task, be it making presentations, browsing webpages, watching videos, editing pictures, etc.
If you have such a brilliant looking screen, you obviously would like to click plenty of pictures to view them later on your phone, right? You can capture all your memories with the 16MP primary shooter which has features like OIS. Click stupid selfies and video call your friends from other cities using the 8MP front camera.
As per Pei, the new dual SIM, 4G enabled Smartphone will purportedly sport a new design, something different from the generic designs of the earlier OnePlus handsets. However, when you have such a robust Smartphone, the aesthetics are allowed to take a backseat, don’t you think?
