The Growing Graph of the Blackberry Porsche Design P’9983 Graphiteby Rajshree Faria March 19, 2015
What do you get when one of the leading Smartphone makers in the world joins hands with a premium design company? Well, what you get is a beautifully crafted handset that promises to set itself apart from the crowd of devices available in the market. With BlackBerry and Porsche Design Group teaming up to produce a mobile phone, the result is a stunning BlackBerry Porsche Design P’9983 Graphite handset that will inspire awe amongst the users.
A successor of the 2014 BlackBerry Porsche Design P’9983, the Graphite version is a more sophisticated looking phone with the same technical specifications as its predecessor. The Graphite phone sports a rear leather cover for a stately look along with ‘exclusive graphite-metallic colored elements.’ This phone is the fourth collaboration between Porsche and BlackBerry, the others being the BlackBerry Porsche P’9981, BlackBerry Porsche Design P’9982, and BlackBerry Porsche Design P’9983.
The phone comes with a unique Porsche Design PIN ID assigned to every user. The product comes with goodies such as BlackBerry Hub, BlackBerry Blend, and BlackBerry World, which allows the user to download business and other productivity apps.
As far as its technical details are concerned, the phone will run on the BlackBerry OS version 10.3. The super AMOLED screen is a decent enough 3.1” capacitive touch one with a 720 x 720 pixels display. The screen features a light and proximity sensor. On the camera front, the primary camera is 8MP with autofocus, face detection, digital image stabilizer, High Dynamic Range mode and such features. The 2MP secondary camera will be a treat for all selfie lovers and those who video call frequently. Both cameras are capable of recording HD videos.
The phone has a QWERTY keypad with glass- like keys for aesthetic appeal. With features like personalized auto-correction and next word suggestion, the user will have a quick and efficient typing experience. If you thought that the durability of these keys is going to be an issue, thing again, as the keys are made up of rigid synthetic material.
The hardware is quite impressive too. It comes equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon Dual core, 1500 MHz processor, and 2048 MB RAM for effortless multitasking and app switching. The massive 64 inbuilt storage can be supplemented using the external memory card slot that supports up to 128GB. The 2100 mAh battery assures of an average talk time capacity of approximately 12 hours. For connectivity, the phone supports Wi-Fi and 3G along with Bluetooth.
The phone will be available for purchase in the Porsche Design stores, certain carriers and retail outlets. Apparently, for those loyal BlackBerry users who are willing to shell out about $1950 for this first- class phone, the phone is available on the Porsche Design website too.
With phone designs becoming increasingly similar, the BlackBerry Porsche Design P’9983 Graphite comes as an eye soother though at a very high cost. The coming months will see whether the phone fares as well as projected or bites some very expensive dust!
