While various other tablet manufacturers cost you a fortune on their latest offerings, Asus plans to walk the opposite path. The Taiwanese gadget manufacturer recently launched the new 7-inch MeMO Pad loaded with the latest Android Jelly Bean OS. Priced at just Rs. 9999, the tablet is presently one of the cheapest Android tablets around, but will it be one of the best out there. Lets find out.
- 7-inch capacitive touchscreen
- Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean)
- 1 GHz processor
- 8 and 16 GB internal memory
- 1 GB RAM
- 4270 mAh Li-Po battery
The new MeMO Pad has a 1 MP front-facing camera capable of recording videos at a 720p resolution. The decent 7-inch screen has a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels. You can further extend the internal storage memory up to 32 GB using a microSD card. The 4270 mAh battery can easily last for around 4.5 hours. Amazingly, with the device, you also get 5 GB of cloud storage for free.
Talking about the design, it is quite a simple one, and that’s what makes the tablet look highly impressive. It has a neat diamond patterned finish on the rear which is responsible for offering a better hand grip. The volume and the power buttons are located on the left, while Asus decided to keep the right side clean.
Under normal lighting, the screen is capable of offering impressive details. However, the visibility might be affected a bit under sunlight as the screen is reflective. But, that’s definitely not a turn off at all. The text is easily readable and the navigation is smooth. Above all, multitasking is obviously not an issue. This latest offering from Asus can run around 5 apps at a time.
So, is it worth spending Rs. 9999 on this one? Why not? The Asus MeMO Pad brings you the best of design, fabulous hardware and of course, a top class performance. What else do you want? An 8 on 10 is probably a decent rating.
