Tecno Launches New Range of Smartphones in India: Tecno Camon iAir 2+, Camon i2 and Camon i2X

Tecno Camon iAir 2+, Camon i2 and Camon i2XChinese handset maker Tecno Mobile has expanded its product portfolio in Indian market with the launch of three new smartphones dubbed as Tecno Camon iAir 2+, Camon i2, Camon i2X. All three phones sport a wide notch at the top of the display and come with Super Full View display panels. In addition, all three phones feature AI (Artificial Intelligence) backed cameras, dual-VoLTE support, dual rear camera set up and 19:9 screen aspect ratio. Some of the camera features are Auto Scene Detection (ASD) which helps to enhance the overall photography experience in an outdoor set up, AI Bokeh mode that blurs the object/s in the background and sharpens the object/s in the foreground.

Tecno Camon iAir2+, Camon i2, and Camon i2X Price and Availability in India:

The Tecno iAir2+ is priced in India at Rs. 8,999, while the Camon i2 is priced at Rs. 10,499. The Canon i2X is the costliest of the three phones and it comes with a price tag of Rs. 12,499. All three phones will come in three colour options i.e. Aqua Blue, Champagne Gold and Midnight Black. The phones have already gone on sale and can be purchased from over 5000+ retail outlets across the country. As part of the launch offer, the company has tied up with Reliance Jio in order to provide its users with benefits worth Rs. 2,250 and 50GB of Jio 4G data. In addition, the company will also provide one-time screen replacement with the smartphone for a limited period of time.

Tecno Camon iAir2+ Features and Specifications:

Camon iAir2+ is the base model and thus features basic specifications. It comes with 6.2-inch HD+ Super Full View display with 720×1440 pixel resolution and 19:9 aspect ratio resulting into 88 percent screen-to-body ratio. As mentioned earlier, the display comes with a notch at the top and has a 2.5D curved glass protection. Under the hood, the phone is powered by a 2.0GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6761 processor coupled with 2GB of RAM. The inbuilt storage capacity of the device is 32GB, but it can be increased further up to 128GB by means of a miicroSD card. It runs HiOS based on Android 8.1 Oreo operating system out of the box and is backed by a 3,750mAh battery.

For the camera buffs, the Camon iAir2+ features a dual camera set up on the back which includes a 13-megapixel primary sensor with an f/1.8 aperture + a 2-megapixel secondary sensor with LED flash. For selfies, there’s an 8-megapixel sensor at the front with an f/2.0 aperture and a flash.

For security purpose, the phone has fingerprint sensor as well as Face Unlock. For connectivity purpose, the phone features 4G LTE, dual-SIM slots, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS.

Camon i2 Features and Specifications:

The Camon i2 is the mid variant and it shares a lot of similarities with Camon iAir2+ i.e. 6.2-inch HD+ Super Full View display, quad-core MediaTek MT6761 processor, 32GB of onboard storage (128GB expandable), HiOS based on Android 8.1 Oreo, 13MP + 2MP dual rear camera set up and 3,750mAh battery. However, it features 3GB of RAM (instead of 2GB) and 16-megapixel selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture and an LED flash (instead of 8-megapixel).

Earlier last month, the company had launched Camon iAce and Camon iSky 2 smartphones in India with FullView displays and Face Unlock feature.

Camon i2X Features and Specifications:

The Camon i2X is the top variant of the three and it flaunts 6.2-inch LCD display bearing an HD+ resolution of 1,500×720 pixels and an aspect ratio of 19:9. The phone draws power from MediaTek’s MT6762 octa-core chipset clocked at 2.0GHz along with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of inbuilt storage which can be expanded further up to 128GB using a microSD card. It runs Android 8.1 Oreo-based HiOS 4.1 out of the box and is fueled by a non-removable 3,750mAh Li-On battery.

For the camera buffs, there’s a dual rear camera set up consisting of a 13-megapixel primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture coupled with 5-megapixel secondary sensor with f/2.4 aperture and quad LED flash. For selfies, there is a 16-megapixel camera on the front with f/2.0 aperture and dedicated flash. The camera comes equipped with several features such as Bokeh Mode, AI HDR, AI Beauty, Super Pixel Mode and Panorama. The front camera also doubles up as Face Unlock. In addition, the phone also features a rear mounted fingerprint sensor for security purpose. For connectivity purpose, the i2X includes 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS/ A-GPS, and Micro-USB.

It will be interesting to see how these new phones are able to face the competition in entry level or mid-range segment which is dominated by some of the established smartphone brands like Samsung, Xiaomi, Oppo and Vivo.
