Spice Is Hoping to Spice Up The Market With Its V801 Smartphone
Spice brand, now part of Transsion Holdings has been into smartphone business for quite some time in India. Its new entrant is the V801, which is a Rs 7,999 handset meant to compete with Xiaomi and Lenovo. The company is also looking forward to increasing its presence in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities of India much like Oppo and Vivo.
The Spice V801 takes design cues from the Google Pixel. It has a glass and metal combo at the rear. It features a 5-inch HD 2.5D curved display with the resolution of 1280 x 720. It seems a Full HD display could have been taxing for a MediaTek processor clocked at 1.25 GHz. The handset has 3 GB RAM and 16 GB on-board storage.
The phone sports an 8 MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture with LED flash. There’s another 8 MP shooter for the selfie aficionados with attractive features such as Beauty mode and Facemask. The fingerprint sensor is placed at the back. It offers some nifty features such as tap to click pictures and is customisable to quick launch apps such as Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat.
The V801 is a dual sim VoLTE phone and will work with Jio and Airtel VoLTE networks without any fuss. It runs Android Nougat out-of-the-box. The 2700 mAH battery pack provides the necessary power. Spice is offering a year’s replacement warranty on this phone to win over consumer trust.
