Specification, Features & Review – Samsung Galaxy Golden I9230by jay.m November 7, 2013 1 comment
Samsung Galaxy Golden is a dual ‘screen’ phone. It has some of the most unique features in the market. Let’s have a look.
OS: Android Jelly Bean 4.2
Display- 3.7 inch Super AMOLED display and another 3.5 inch Super AMOLED display
Processor and RAM- 1.7 GHz dual Core processor and 1.5 GB of RAM
Camera- 8 MP rear camera and 1.9 MP front facing camera
Dimensions- 118×59.5×13.8 mm
Weight- 171 g
Galaxy Golden tries to combine the touch and type experience. It goes the extra mile (a long one!) by putting in two displays for that functionality. It is a flip open phone. When closed, it is like a touch screen phone, but when flipped open, you can do your calling or chatting on your 3×4 typing pad. The phone is thick though. It’s around 1.4 cm thick, and quite heavy at 171 g, but the dual screen has its advantages.
It has ‘two’ screens. Both of the screens are Super AMOLED displays with identical resolution of 480-by-800 pixels. The inner screen though, is a little bit smaller at 3.5 inches, compared to 3.7 inches for the outside display panel. The screens are actually very sharp, with a pixel density of 252 ppi. Both screens have capacitive touch inputs.
The phone comes with an 8 MP rear camera with autofocus and LED flash. Samsung cameras are known to perform well, and Galaxy Golden won’t be an exception to that. It can also record videos at 1080p full HD resolution with stereo sound recording. Along with these, there is a front facing camera with a 1.9 MP sensor.
Processor and Memory
The phone comes with a 1.7 GHz dual core processor and an Adreno 305 GPU. That’s powerful. Then there’s 1.5 GB of RAM to support these processors. The phone comes with 16 GB internal memory, expandable with memory cards.
OS and Features
The phone comes preloaded with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, and on top of it is the Samsung’s famous TouchWiz UI. The USP of the device is the dual touchscreen. As for the apps, you get the Google Apps, and then Samsung’s Propriety apps. As for sensors, there’s proximity sensor, accelerometer, gyroscope and compass. It’s called Golden, because it comes in Golden color as well, along with black.
Galaxy Golden has dual SIM functionality. You can have 3G connectivity in both of the SIMs, and there’s WiFi and Bluetooth, for other connectivity options.
Samsung Galaxy Golden has been released at a price of INR 51,900. That’s a steep price especially when you are actually getting a double pair of screens and SIMs. With everyone carrying around the same sort of Samsung phone, Galaxy Golden might be a pretty style statement.
