The iconic TV company Sony is holding up well in the smart television space. The Japanese company uses Android as its platform of choice for smart TVs. And now, it has added the Google Assistant functionality to its 2017 smart TV line-up. A select few 2016 Sony 4K HDR televisions with Android TV can now use the Google Assistant to discover and access content, as well as control other smart home devices through their Sony TV.
The summon the Google Assistant on Sony TV, all you have to so is press the microphone button on the remote control. It is then ready to listen to your voice commands. Using the Assistant, you can search for content, play it, stream photos, and find general information such as weather, directions, and more. For instance, you can ask the Goggle Assistant to “Play Narcos on Netflix” and it will do the needful.
The list of TVs with built-in Google Assistant include XBR-Z9D, XBR-X800D, XBR-X750/X700D, and all 2017 Sony Android TVs.
