Sony Xperia XZ2 India Launch

Recently we shared the exclusive leaked renders of Sony’s yet-to-be launched Xperia XZ3 smartphone and now Sony Mobile has officially launched the Xperia XZ2 smartphone in India. The phone was unveiled by the company at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018 at the start of the year. The highlights of the device are 4K HDR recording and water resistance capability. The phone comes with 3D Creator on the front and main cameras which can scan yourself or the surroundings and print it or share it in 3D. It also features a Dynamic Vibration System which analyses the audio data and lets you feel the action in your hands. This feature brings movies and games to life due to added effects.

Sony Xperia XZ2 India Price in India:

The Xperia XZ2 comes with a price tag of Rs. 72,990 and will be sold via select Sony Centers and other offline stores across the country. The sale will start from August 1. Globally the phone comes in four color options, but the company has launched only one color variant in India i.e. Liquid Black.

Sony Xperia XZ2 Design and Display:

The Xperia XZ2 is the first Sony handset to sport a curvy design which is different from the usual boxy design language of Sony’s handsets. It runs a fluid 3D glass surface and sports a 5.7-inch FHD+ HDR display with an 18:9 aspect ratio and 2160 x 1080 pixel resolution. The display features TRILUMINOS and X-Reality which makes it one of the best displays on a flagship smartphone. The display also has Corning Gorilla Glass 5 for added protection against scratches making it more durable. In terms of dimensions, the device measures 153 x 72 x 11.1 mm. The phone is IP65/IP68 certified for water and dust resistance.

Sony Xperia XZ2 OS, Processor, Battery:

The Xperia XZ2 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC coupled with 4GB of RAM.The internal storage capacity of the device is 64GB, which can be expanded further up to 400GB via microSD card. The phone runs Android 8.0 Oreo operating system out of the box and is backed by 3,180mAh battery that comes with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging as well as wireless charging support.

Sony Xperia XZ2 Camera:

In terms of optics, the XZ2 bears a 19-megapixel rear camera with Exmor RS sensor and f/2.0 aperture. The rear camera supports 4K video recording and 960fps slow-motion video. The front hosts a 5-megapixel snapper with f/2.2 aperture for selfies and video calls.

In our view, it is surprising for Sony Mobile to launch a phone with a premium price tag of Rs. 72,990 considering it is already losing out on the market share. It will be interesting to see how the phone performs.
