Sony, the Japanese tech giant has launched another high-end smartphone, the Xperia XZ1 in India. Priced at Rs 44,990, the new phone sits just below the flagship Xperia XZ Premium. The Unveiled at the IFA 2017, the Xperia XZ1’s highlight is Sony’s 3D facial scanning. It is also one of the few phones to offer Android Oreo 8.0 out-of-the-box.
The XZ1 refrains from joining the bezel-free consortium and takes its design cues from the XZ Premium. For a Sony phone, it quite thin at 7.4 mm. The phone is IP68 certified dust and water resistant. Adding to the entertainment aspect, are the front placed stereo speakers.
The phone comes with a compact 5.2-inch Full HD IPS display. The display gets HDR10 (High Dynamic Range) compliance which will allow you to stream latest HDR content from Netflix and Amazon and also is powered by Sony’s Triluminous Display and X-Reality tech. The display is protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass 5.
The Xperia is a powerful machine. Thanks to Qualcomm’s latest and most powerful 64-bit Snapdragon 835 SoC, the handset can handle a lot of work without breaking the sweat. The phone has got 4 gigs of RAM. The inbuilt storage is 64 GB, which can be extended further up to 256 GB via the hybrid slot. Unless you opt for a secondary SIM.
The phone sports a 19 MP f/2.0 Sony IMX400 sensor which is Gyro 5-axis stabilised and is coupled with predictive phase detection and laser autofocus. The shooter is capable of 940 fps slo-mo video along with the 4K video recording. To please the selfie-buffs Sony has plonked in a 13 MP front-facing camera, which also happens to be gyro stabilised.
The XZ1 comes with 4G VoLTE. The fingerprint sensor is embedded in the power button. The 2700 mAh battery on the XZ1 looks like a reason to worry. However, we wouldn’t judge it before giving it a shot.
