INDULGE THE PHOTOGRAPHER IN YOU WITH THE NEW SONY M5 AND C5 ULTRAby Rajshree Faria August 4, 2015
New Smartphone releases are not a big scene anymore, unless they are from a brand like Sony. Keeping up with its trend of launching new products every couple of months to keep its fan base hooked, the Japanese company has unveiled two new Smartphones in its Xperia range- M5 and C5 Ultra.
Sony Xperia M5
Talking about the M5 first, the successor of the Sony M4 Aqua, it is a 5” Full-HD phone with a display resolution of 1920x1080p. The large screen and high resolution is a good idea to view the pictures taken from the phone’s 21.5 MP primary camera with Sony’s Exmor RS sensor. It sports what Sony calls “Hybrid autofocus” and a f/2.2 lens. It also features 5x image zoom, 4K video recording, auto scene recognition, image stabilizer, and geo tagging etc. Selfie lovers will be in for a treat with the 13 MP front camera that the M5 comes with.
The M5 is touted as the best in its class in terms of durability with its IP65 and IP68 rating which means it is both, waterproof and dustproof. Users will be able to use the latest Android apps as Lollipop is the Android iteration of choice. It comes equipped with a 64-bit Octa-core MediaTek Helio X10 processor which clocks a speed of 2GHz and 3 GB of RAM. It has 16 GB of internal storage and expandable storage of up to a massive 200 GB. The phone will support 4G connectivity, although only in selected markets. The M5 is powered by a 2600mAh battery.
Sony Xperia C5 Ultra
The second launch is the C5 Ultra, a 6” full-HD, IPS display powered by Sony’s Mobile Bravia Engine 2 for a near borderless display. A selfie lover’s delight, the C5 Ultra sports a 13 MP rear and front camera with LED flash and Sony’s Exmor RS sensor. Coming to the tech specs, the C5 Ultra is powered by a 1.7GHz octa-core MediaTek processor with 2 GB of RAM. The ARM Mali760 GPU will ensure that the user can play graphics rich content without any lags or glitches. This phone too comes with 16 GB of internal storage that can be supplemented by an additional 200 GB using the microSD card slot.
Essentially a phablet, the C5 will be a hit with those looking to upgrade to a powerful gadget which ranks high in portability too. Not one to be left behind in this race for supremacy in terms of internet connectivity, the C5 Ultra is 4G enabled.
The M5 as well as the C5 Ultra will have single SIM and dual SIM variants. With both sporting the iconic Sony camera, it is sure to appeal to photography lovers. Furthermore, the processor and other tech specs are not too shabby either for a phone from such a quality focused brand.
The pricing of the two “super mid- range” phones, as they are being marketed by the company, is likely to be announced in the coming days. Those wishing to get their hands on these two Sony products will have to wait until mid August when the Smartphones are likely to be made available in most markets.
