Sony has released a new version of its RXO camera that it had launched at CES 2018 last year. The RX0 II comes with improved features and specifications. These include the flip-up LCD display, internal 4K video recording, and stabilisation among others. The Sony RX0 II will come with a price tag of $700 which roughly converts to Rs. 48,270. The camera will be available for sale starting from April 2019.

The Sony RX0 II features a 1-inch stacked CMOS sensor. It comes with a lower resolution of 15.3-megapixels as compared to the model launched last year. The camera offers a 24mm fixed wide-angle lens with an f/4 aperture. The minimum focusing distance of the camera is 20 cm. As per Sony, the distance is apt for selfies and table-top photos. The camera measures 59×40.5×35 mm and weighs 132 grams. It can withstand impact of water up to 10 metres and is also equipped to withstand impact due to dust. It is shockproof and crushproof as well.

The Sony RX0 II is equipped for internal 4K video recording at up to 30fps with oversampling. This enables the users to get richer output for their shoots. The camera is also equipped with an in-body electronic image stabilisation for the first time. Due to its stacked sensor, the camera can also do Super Slow-Motion video recording. The camera’s stacked sensor can enable users to do Super Slow-Motion video recording in short bursts at up to 1000fps.

While it has interesting features, the camera does not offer a 180-degree tilting LCD display which enables users to vlog or frame selfies. There are many other action cameras that offer this feature. The display can tilt 90 degrees downwards. The camera, however, does not have a touch input. It provides physical buttons around the display for users to view and select from the menu.

The RX0 II has an anti-distortion shutter of up to 1/32,000 seconds and it enables to shoot 16fps continuous shots. The camera also sports optical filters such as a Soft Skin Effect and the Eye AF, which has been upgraded to enable shooting better portraits. The camera supports uncompressed 4K output via HDMI. It also offers picture profile support such as S-Log2 and Time Code functions.
