Sony Revealed A New Flagship Smartphone Xperia 5 II With Snapdragon 865 & 5G Connectivity

In the US, Japanese tech mogul Sony announced its new Xperia smartphone with 5G connectivity, named Sony Xperia 5 II. The smartphone claims to be the world’s first to offer slow-motion recording capabilities up to 4K 120FPS. The latest flagship offering will not be available to buy until December ’20.

Apart from the 5G connectivity, Xperia 5 II will feature an OLED display with CinemaWide HDR, IP68 & IP65 ratings, and 120Hz refresh rate. Sony is also providing a dedicated shutter button. FPS integrated with the power button, Snapdragon 865, and more.

Sony Xperia 5 II: Key specs & features

The latest addition to the Xperia line up by Sony comes with a 6.1” OLED panel and a slim design language with an aspect ration of 21:9. Sony Xperia 5 II will offer 2520*1080 pixel resolution with 240 Hz touch sampling and motion blur reduction rate. Sony has opted for top & bottom bezels to avoid accidental palm touches. The smartphone is powered by the latest Snapdragon 865 chip on 8 gigs of RAM and 128 GB onboard storage. For the graphics, Sony is offering Adreno 650 GPU. Sony Xperia 5 II also comes with a microSD card slot, expandable up to 1TB.

On the rear, Sony is offering the triple camera module housing a 12 MP EXMOR RS sensor, 12 MP wide-angle sensor, and a 12 MP telephoto camera. The telephoto sensor will also offer a 3x optical zoom. On the front, the smartphone will feature an 8 MP selfie camera.

The latest Xperia will house a 4,000 mAh battery with the fast-charging support up to 18W. The smartphone will also feature dual 4G VoLTE, dual-band WiFi, a 3.5 mm audio port, IP68 & IP65 water-resistance ratings, FPS on the right edge, a dedicated camera button, NFC, Bluetooth 5.1, and USB Type-C. It will run on Android 10.

Pricing & availability

Sony Xperia 5 II is announced in the US market with a price tag of $950 (~₹70,000) and will only be available in black color. The smartphone will be open for pre-orders from Sept 29, and the shipping will only start from Dec 4.
