Sony has announced the launch of its high zoom camera DSC-WX800. It will directly take on GoPro. The company claims that the DSC-WX800 will be the world’s smallest high zoom travel camera. The camera comes with a compact casing and delights picture and video lovers with a huge zoom range.

The camera comes with 4K compatibility. It also sports the upgraded BIONZ X image processing engine which is very fast and is used in WX800 combines with front-end LSI. This enables the camera to operate at a continuous high speed of up to 10fps. It comes with a buffer limit of up to 155 images and can seamlessly ensure better noise reduction in high ISO settings.

The camera offers an impressive auto focus speed of 0.9 seconds. It features the Eye AF technology from Sony to enhance the quality of portrait photographs taken using the camera.

The WX800 boasts of a high magnification Zeiss Vario-Sonnar lens that packs in a zoom range of 24 mm at the wide end and goes up to 720 mm super-telephoto. The camera is equipped with advanced image stabilisation and boasts of Optical SteadyShot. It can capture 4K footage with full pixel readout and no pixel binning.

The camera enables users to shoot HD slow-motion videos at 100fps. It also provides users with features such as Touch Focus and Touch Shutter. These functionalities enable users to shoot subjects directly. When coupled with the 180-degree 3-inch display that can be tilted, it allows for more flexibility and makes shooting a joyful experience. The camera comes with “My Menu” personalisation that enables users to recall up to 30 items in an instant and create custom menus.

The camera comes with an interesting feature called the location data acquisition via Bluetooth. The feature enables the camera to collect and record location data from a mobile device. Bluetooth support allows further transfers to smartphones and can also enable upload on to websites for sharing pictures with mass audience in a public domain.

The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-WX800 camera has been launched and is available in India across all Sony centers. It can also be purchased at Alpha Flagship stores and other major electronic chains. The camera comes with a price tag of Rs 34,990.
