Clampshell phones are not dead yet. Kudos to Samsung for announcing the W2018, a high-end clamshell with Android on board. The unveil took place on 10th anniversary of Samsung’s W series.
The W2018 features not one but two Super AMOLED screens. The 4.2-inch panels boast of Full HD resolution. Samsung has gone all out in terms of power, as the W2018 is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 chipset. It has 4 GB RAM and 64 GB internal storage. The phone has a hybrid slot that either take a secondary SIM or microSD card up to 256 GB.
The phone has a 12 MP rear camera with f/1.5 aperture. The camera assembly also boasts of OIS (Optical Image Stabilisation). For selfies, it has a 5 MP snapper.
The W2018 comes with the usual set of connectivity options. it has a 2,300 mAh battery. it runs Android Nougat 7.1.1 with Samsung’s customization on top. Samsung claims that it is the first flip phone with support for its Bixby AI assistant.
The Samsung W2018 costs 15,999 yuan, which roughly translates to Rs 15,6077.
