South Korean tech giant Samsung’s upcoming flagship dubbed as Galaxy S5 is all set for launch in India. The long awaited smartphone will be announced on March 27 in India at a media event. The company has already sent out invites for the event. Pricing of Galaxy S5 is also expected to be revealed at the same time. In addition, Samsung is likely to announce pricing and availability of its new range of Gear smartwatches- Gear 2, Gear 2 Neo and Gear Fit.


Galaxy S5 is quiet identical to earlier flagships but will be dust and water resistant. One of the key enhancements is in terms of the camera which the company claims to feature world’s fastest autofocus speed of 0.3 seconds along with advanced High Dynamic Range (HDR). The rear camera is 16MP whereas the front one is 2.1MP. The phone sports a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED display and is powered by a 2.5GHz quad-core processor along with 2GB RAM. It runs on Google’s latest Android 4.4 KitKat OS. The connectivity options include- Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi, NFC, LTE, USB 3.0 and InfraRed. The battery capacity is 2800mAh which can deliver up to 21 hours of talktime and up to 390 hours of standby time. There are two variants in terms of internal storage- 16GB and 32GB. Memory can further be expanded up to 64GB via microSD card. There’s also a finger print scanning feature.

The Galaxy S5 is expected to have a huge fan following. The device is expected to be priced around Rs. 50,000 and will be available starting April 11 when it’s set for a global launch in 150 countries.
