At a launch event in San Francisco yesterday Samsung unveiled its second flip phone the Galaxy Z flip along with the Galaxy S20 series smartphones. The Galaxy fold which was launched in September last year. This phone folds vertically. However, the Galaxy Z flip folds horizontally (Clamshell Design)just like Moto Razr.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip Specifications and Features

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip has a 6.7-inch with full HD+ display with HDR10+ support. The display is made of an Ultra-thin glass. There is a secondary AMOLED display on the outside with 300 x 112 pixels resolution. The secondary screen is used to show notifications, time and weather updates. The outer side of the smartphone features dual primary cameras.

 

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip is fitted with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ processor. The smartphone comes with 8GB RAM and 256GB internal storage. The device boots on Android 10 with One UI 2.0. The Galaxy Z Flip sports a 12-megapixel dual-pixel main camera with 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle secondary sensor. It has a 10-megapixel selfie camera. The main camera has the capability to zoom 8X.

 

Unlike the Galaxy S20 series, the Galaxy Z Flip is a 4G device only. Its other connectivity features are Bluetooth 5.0, USB Type-C port, A-GPS, and Wifi 6. The fingerprint sensor has been placed on the side. The phone draws its power from a 300mAh battery with 15W fast charging and 9W wireless charging.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip is priced at $1380. The phone comes in two color variants- Mirror black and Mirror Purple. It is expected to go on sale from today in select markets.
