Samsung released its Galaxy Tab A (2017) in India. The tablet was first introduced in Vietnam last month. It features a sleek metal body that can give the iPad Mini a run for its money.

The Galaxy Tab A (2017) sports an 8-inch TFT display with 1280 x 800 pixels. The display brightness can reach up to 480 nits. The tablet is powered by Qualcomm’s entry-level Snapdragon 425 chipset clocked 1.4 GHz. For your multitasking needs, you get 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage. There’s a microSD card slot that can take up to 256 GB.

The Tab A (2017) is the first tablet to feature Samsung’s ‘Bixby’ AI assistant. It learns and adapts to user’s priorities and offers relevant content and apps.

On the photography front, there is an 8-megapixel rear camera with a wide f/1.9 aperture accompanied by an LED flash. For video calling, there’s a 5-megapixel camera. In the connectivity department, the tablet offers 4G LTE, Bluetooth v4.2, Dual-band Wi-Fi, GPS, and FM radio.

The Tab A 2017 runs on Android Nougat out of the box and is touted to last through an entire day on a single charge thanks to a 5000 mAh battery.

Available from Samsung’s large chain of retail stores and its partners, the Galaxy Tab A (2017) costs Rs 17,990. It comes bundled with 180 GB of 4G data from Reliance Jio and one-time screen replacement under Samsung’s ‘Nevermind offer’ if purchased before November 9.
