Earlier this year, Samsung launched a mid-range smartphone, the Galaxy Young loaded with the latest Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS. The handset features a 3.27-inch screen and is powered by a 1 GHz processor. In March, Samsung announced Galaxy Y Plus, a handset with a comparatively smaller display at 2.8-inch. Unlike the Galaxy Young, the Y Plus comes preloaded with Android 4.0 ICS and is powered by an 850 MHz processor. The duo is now available online but before you choose one of these, it would be wise to know a bit about the specifications.

Samsung Galaxy YoungSamsung Galaxy Young:

  • 3.27 inch TFT capacitive touchscreen
  • 1 GHz Cortex A5 processor
  • 768 MB RAM
  • Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean) OS
  • 3.15 MP primary camera

Samsung Galaxy Young, dual-SIM smartphone is available online at the best price of Rs. 8,290. It houses a 1300 mAh Li-Ion battery which promises a maximum talktime of around 6 hours 45 minutes. The phone features a decent 3.15 MP camera but lacks a secondary camera. A 3.27 inch display may seem a bit smaller if you are looking out for something bigger, but at a price tag that low, the screen size seems to be truly justified. The internal memory of 4 GB can be extended up to a maximum of 64 GB using a micro SD card. The Galaxy Young weighs only 112g, which means, it can easily fit into your pocket.

  • 2.8 inch TFT capacitive touchscreen
  • 850 MHz processor
  • Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) OS
  • 2 MP primary camera

At Rs. 6,290, the Samsung Galaxy Y is currently one of the cheapest phones running on Android ICS. A 2.8-inch screen might seem a bit smaller but shouldn’t be a problem if watching movies and videos is not your priority. This one too comes with an internal memory of 4 GB which is expandable up to 32 GB. You might probably ask for something better than an 850 MHz processor, at least 1 GHz would have been enough. The 1200 mAh Li-Ion battery offers a maximum talk time of up to 5 hours 50 minutes which is not bad at all.
