galaxy-tab-4Post its announcement in April, Samsung has formally launched Galaxy Tab 4 tablets in various size variants viz. 7-inch, 8-inch and 10.1-inch. Whilst targeting the low end tablet users in order to retain its reigning market share, Samsung has continued with a similar look and feel and even price structure, rather making it more affordable.

Slimmer in size and an improved finish, accompanied by sleek faux chrome bezels, these tabs definitely relate to a premium look and feel. Irrespective of the size of the tab, the resolution display rests at 1280×800 while other common features across all three tabs are 3MP/1.3MP rear/front cameras, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, microSD slot, 1.5GB of RAM and Wi-Fi direct.

Incorporated with the latest Android 4.4 KitKat OS and each of the Galaxy Tab 4 are powered with powerful batteries too. To be more specific, the Galaxy Tab 4 7.0 is equipped with 4,000mAh while Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 and Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 are powered with 4,450mAh and 6,800mAh respectively. Endurance tests have revealed that they can last up to 3 – 4 days on a single charge while its usage is spread from internet browsing, watching videos, gaming and much more.

Each of these tabs has two new apps in pre-installed capacity, Netflix and Kids Mode. The users need to install the Kids Mode app which itself is an upgrade since it contains more sounds and animations…making its use thoroughly enjoyable by kids.

Samsung has retained its Multi-Window feature which can be accessed by a simple swipe from the screen edge on any page. The only different being its upgrade to match the requirement of the OS – Android 4.4 KitKat, this means, the user can view status bar icons in white and flatter in display.

Considering these tabs to fall in toe with their predecessors on the look side but the user-interface offered is quite friendly and intuitive. The home screen does look neat and uncluttered with clear icons and text. Definitely an upgrade for the best but with Samsung as its manufacturer, one would have preferred HD resolution which has not been offered…

So, go ahead with any of the variants of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 series for they are neat and affordable.
