Come February 21, tech-loving stargazers will get to meet a brand new star in the Samsung Galaxy, the S7. The event is a part of the Mobile World Congress to be held in Barcelona, and will reportedly see the Korean company unveil some new products in its line of tablets and virtual reality segment too. However, that’s not our point of discussion today! Today, we discuss the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge.

Samsung is keeping it chic and elegant with its choice of colours for the S7. Apparently, the handsets will come in a black frame with variants of black, silver, white, or gold finish. Clarity certainly won’t be a problem on the 5.1” QHD screen that the S7 will reportedly sport.

The S7 will come with the latest Android OS, Marshmallow, so that the users experience the best of Android experience, straight out-of-the-box! Keeping up with its trend of providing massive RAM, the S7 will come with 4GB of it, promising the user a fluid hop-skip-and-jump from one app to another. Samsung has fit the S7 with a 3,000 mAh battery so that this star of the Samsung Galaxy keeps it company, regardless of day or night.

Coming to the Galaxy S7 Edge, the device will sport a slightly bigger 5.5” screen, and a better battery capacity of 3,600 mAh.

With Samsung developing its very own Exynos 8 Octa 8890 chipset, it is expected that the S7 and S7 Edge will come equipped with this creation. However, a contrary report suggests that the two devices will sport Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 chipset.

Both devices will support 4G connectivity, so now all the user needs to do is get hold of a decent network provider and surf their day away with lightning fast photo sharing, networking, download, uploading, etc. The new flagships will supposedly be waterproof and dustproof, a feature that has long been demanded by clumsy Smartphone users. Another demand that will be fulfilled is the inclusion of a microSD card slot with support of up to 200 GB of external memory.

The Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge will sport a 12MP primary shooter, with some rumours suggesting a dual primary camera. However, we will have to wait until next week to know if camera loving users need to start rejoicing or not!

Samsung loyalists will need to wait until the 21st to know when they can get their hands on the new Smartphones; but some reports suggest that the day might be as soon as the first week of March.

According to leaked online reports, the S7 will come with a price tag of US$790 which translates to approximately Rs.53, 000. The S7’s “edgy” counterpart will be priced at a higher $900 which means the Indian buyer will have to shell out some Rs.61, 000 for the stylish Smartphone. This pricing may be contrary to earlier reports which hinted at a lower price tag for this year’s Samsung flagships, but with the Smartphone market having enough premium buyers, Samsung might just get away with the prices. Apple does, doesn’t it?!

Let’s wait until the MWC 2016 to see if the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge will truly be worth its price tags, or maybe Sony, HTC, LG, or some ambitious Chinese brand will see the buyers flock to its stands.
