South Korean tech giant Samsung has finally unveiled the long anticipated smartphone dubbed as Galaxy S5. The device was launched amidst much fanfare at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2014 taking place at Barcelona (Spain). The company revealed that its latest flagship will go on sale in 150 countries including India from April 11, 2014. However, the pricing of the device is not yet disclosed.
The Galaxy S5 sports a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED (1080 X 1920p) display, similar to Galaxy S4. The device is powered by a 2.5GHz quad-core processor coupled with 2GB RAM and it will run on Android 4.4.2 KitKat OS. There will be two variants available in terms of internal storage- 16GB and 32GB. The storage can further be expanded up to 64GB via microSD card. It hosts a 16MP primary camera capable of capturing 4K video at 30 frames per second, and a 2.1MP front-facing camera. The company claims that the S5 features the world’s fastest auto-focus speed (up to 0.3 seconds). The connectivity features include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, Infrared and USB 3.0. All of this is backed with 2800mAh battery backup which can provide up to 390 hours of standby time and 21 hours of talktime.

The S5 is dust as well as water resistant. The phone also features a fingerprint sensor integrated with it’s home button which provides biometric screen-locking. In addition, it will also feature the latest and updated Samsung KNOX security software for added security to user’s data.
