kitkatAfter Nexus 5 received the KitKat update earlier this month, Samsung Galaxy S4 is expected to get the Android 4.4 KitKat update in January next year. If true, then Galaxy S4 will be one of the first non-nexus devices to receive the latest Android update. In addition to Samsung Galaxy  S4, even the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is expected to add KitKat around the same period.

The new OS update will bring with it a range of new features and improved UI as well as performance. The devices with updated OS are expected to become more smooth and fast than before providing better multi-tasking experience. This depends upon the type of device; however it’s supposed to hold true for most of them.

As per the rumors, the other Samsung devices such as Galaxy S3 and Note 2 will get the update sometime later in the year, probably by March-April.

New features available with Android 4.4 KitKat:

  • New and simpler dialer
  • Option to organize contacts based on who you speak to the most
  • Updated Hangouts app
  • Okay Google
  • Emoji icons in the keyboard
  • Google Cloud Printing connected printers
  • More efficient memory use etc.

The very first phone to run latest Android update is none other than Google’s own Nexus 5. Although there is no official word yet about when the update will be available for other devices, all the flagship phones will receive the new OS update sooner or later.
