
Samsung Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10+ and Galaxy S10e with Infinity-O Displays Launched
After being subjected to numerous leaks, South Korean tech giant Samsung has finally launched its Galaxy S10 series at its Unpacked 2019 event in San Francisco. The flagship series consists of Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10+ and Galaxy S10e. All three smartphones flaunt displays with ‘punch-hole’ selfie cameras which Samsung refers to as Infinity-O Display. There are several common features in the three phones such as 7nm octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC (Exynos 9820 in some regions including India), Dynamic AMOLED FHD+ panel, Fast Wireless Charging 2.0 and reverse wireless charging etc. All three handsets come with IP68 certification for resistance against water and dust. The Galaxy S10 and S10+ also get Gorilla Glass 6 layer of protection against scratches.
Samsung Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10+, Galaxy S10e Price
The Samsung Galaxy S10 comes with a starting price tag of USD 899 (approx. Rs. 63,800). There will four colour options available for interested buyers- Prism Black, Prism Blue, Prism Green, and Prism White. While the Samsung Galaxy S10+ price starts from USD 999 (approx. Rs. 71,000) and it will also be available in six colour options- Prism Black, Prism Blue, Prism Green, Prism White, Ceramic Black and Ceramic White. The Galaxy S10e gets a price tag of USD 749 (approx. Rs. 53,300) and it gets as much as five colour variants- Prism Black, Prism Blue, Prism Green, Prism White and Canary Yellow.
The pre-orders for all three smartphones have already started in the US and the sale will begin from March 8. The Galaxy S10 series is expected to hit the Indian market soon. As per a banner on Flipkart.com, the Galaxy S10 pre-orders will start in India from February 22. However, there is no official confirmation regarding the same from Samsung. The pricing details are still not known.
Samsung Galaxy S10 Features and Specifications
The Galaxy S10 sports a 6.1-inch QHD+ (3040×1440 pixels) Curved Dynamic AMOLED Infinity-O Display with a 19:9 aspect ratio, a 550ppi pixel density and 1200 nits of brightness. In some regions the device will be powered by the 7nm octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC, while other regions (including India) will get 8nm octa-core Samsung Exynos 9820 SoC. The phone also features Vapor Chamber Cooling to keep the heat down while performing complex functions or playing games. Further, it is Unity Engine optimised and support Dolby Atmos to deliver an immersive gaming experience.
In terms of memory, there will be 8GB of LPDDR4x RAM and 128GB or 512GB inbuilt storage, which will be expandable further up to 512GB via microSD card. However, it will take up one of the SIM card slots as the phone doesn’t have a dedicated microSD card slot. The dual-SIM phone will run Google’s latest Android 9.0 Pie operating system out of the box with company’s One UI customisation on top, which offers a cleaner and minimalistic interface designed to make large phones easy to use with one hand. The One UI also brings a system-wide dark mode to further enhance the experience. All of this will be backed by a 3,400mAh capacity battery with improved wireless charging speeds by means of Fast Wireless Charging 2.0 which is said to be 30 per cent faster than before. The phone also gets reverse wireless charging support.
In terms of optics, the Galaxy S10 while the S10+ gets a triple rear camera set up on the back with a combination of a 12MP telephoto lens with f/2.4 aperture, OIS and autofocus + a 12MP wide-angle lens with Dual Aperture (f/1.5-2.4) + a 16MP ultra wide-angle sensor with f/2.2 aperture and fixed focus. The rear camera features company’s Dual OIS (optical image stabilisation) technology and also provides up to 10x digital zoom. For selfies, there’s a single 10-megapixel sensor on the front with 2PD autofocus, an f/1.9 aperture, and 80-degree lens.

The dimensions of Galaxy S10 are 149.9×70.4×7.8 mm, and it weighs about 157 grams. For connectivity purpose, the phone gets 4G VoLTE (LTE Cat. 20), Wi-Fi 802.11ax, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS/ A-GPS, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a USB Type-C port. For security purpose, the phone features an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor which is a more intuitive and uses ultrasonic waves to match user’s fingerprint with the data stored in the device, as claimed by the company. The onboard sensors include accelerometer, ambient light sensor, barometer, digital compass, and proximity sensor. The phone also gets a heart rate sensor placed on the back
Samsung Galaxy S10+ Features and Specifications
The Galaxy S10+ comes with a similar design language and has several common specs as that of Galaxy S10. But it gets a bigger 6.4-inch QHD+ (3040×1440) display with 1200 nits of brightness and 438ppi pixel density. The device draws power from the same processor but is paired with apart from 8GB of RAM it additionally gets a 12GB LPDDR4x RAM option. There is difference in terms of storage too as the S10+ gets 128GB, 512GB, and 1TB inbuilt storage variants which are expandable via microSD card (up to 512GB).
In terms of optics, the rear camera set up of Galaxy S10+ is identical to Galaxy S10 but the phone gets a dual selfie camera on the front which consists of a 10MP primary sensor + an 8-megapixel fixed focus RGB depth sensor featuring an f/2.2 aperture and a 90-degree lens. And that is why it gets a pill-shaped hole on the display instead of a small cutout for a single selfie camera. The phone also gets a bigger 4,100mAh capacity battery underneath to keep things ticking. The dimensions of the phone are 157.6×74.1×7.8 mm and its weight is 175 grams.
Samsung Galaxy S10e Features and Specifications
The Galaxy S10e is a compact version of the Galaxy S10 which is expected to compete against the iPhone XR. It features a 5.8-inch Infinity-O Display and comes with either 6GB or 8GB of RAM. The phone gets a regular capacitive fingerprint sensor on the home button unlike the in-display fingerprint sensor seen on the Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10+. Things are different in the camera department as well, wherein you get a dual rear camera set up instead of a triple and it comprises of a 12-megapixel primary wide-angle sensor + a 16-megapixel fixed focus secondary sensor. The selfie camera is same as that of Galaxy S10 i.e. 10-megapixel. The phone also gets a smaller 3,100mAh capacity battery. In terms of dimensions, the Galaxy S10e measures 142.2×69.9×7.9mm and weighs in at 150 grams.
Samsung also announced the Galaxy S10 5G, which is expected to arrive later this year with the same processing power but a larger 6.7-inch display, an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor, a bigger 4,500mAh capacity battery and an extra ToF (Time of Flight) camera at the back.
