South Korean tech giant Samsung seems all set for the launch of its next big flagship for 2018 dubbed as Galaxy Note 9. Company has started rolling out invites for the launch event to be held on August 9 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. A tweet from Samsung Mobile’s official twitter account teases the S-Pen stylus and contains text as “Change is coming August 9th, 2018. Can you keep up? #Unpacked”. The tweet also contains a teaser video. Live streaming of the event will be available at Live streaming of the event will be available at news.samsung.com/global, www.samsungmobilepress.com and www.samsung.com/galaxy.

The phone has been leaked online several times before and now a detailed hands-on review has surfaced online by popular tipster Eldar Murtazin. As per the review by Eldar, the Galaxy Note 9 will look a lot like its predecessor Galaxy Note 8 and will flaunt a similar curved Super AMOLED Infinity display but with improved visibility in sunlight. It will be powered by a Snapdragon 845 SoC in Korea and US and an Exynos SoC in other markets including India. There will be three memory variants available for the user- 6GB RAM + 128GB internal storage, 8GB RAM + 256GB internal storage and 8GB RAM + 512GB internal storage. The battery capacity of the device will be 4,000mAh which can last up to one to two days of normal usage and 23 to 25 hours of video playback. This is a good upgrade over 3,300mAh capacity battery found in Note 8.

The back of the device will sport a horizontally stacked dual camera set up instead of a vertical one as found in Note 8. The fingerprint scanner has been moved under the rear camera setup in order to avoid any accidental touches on the lens. Another difference is that the camera set up will have a variable aperture similar to recently launched Galaxy S9 and S9+. In addition, there will also be an improved ISOCELL technology along with optical image stabilization for better photography. The S pen, which is also teased in the official invite, will have Bluetooth support and the ability to unlock the device remotely. The device will run Android Oreo-based Samsung Experience UI.

Talking about the pricing of Galaxy Note 9, its base variant is expected to be priced similar to the Note 8 i.e. around $950 (roughly Rs. 65,000) in the US.

We are still about a month away from the official launch and you can certainly expect a few more leaks of Galaxy Note 9 in the meanwhile. Stay tuned with us for all the latest updates!
