Samsung Galaxy A80Samsung has expanded its A series with the launch of Galaxy A80 smartphone. The phone was launched at an even held in Bangkok. It comes as one of the most premium mid-range phones and features an unique rotating 48-megapixel triple camera. The other highlights of the device include full-HD+ Super AMOLED display, Dolby Atmos audio integration and in-display fingerprint sensor.

Samsung Galaxy A80 Price and Availability

The company has not yet revealed the pricing and availability details of the Galaxy A80, so we’ll have to wait for a while for the same. Considering the power-packed features and specifications, the phone is expected to be in the price range of 50k.  In the European country, it will be available from the end of the May with Angel Gold, Ghost White and Phantom Black colors.

Samsung Galaxy A80 Features and Specifications

Design and Display: The Galaxy A80 sports a 6.7-inch full-HD+ Super AMOLED ‘New Infinity Display’ with screen resolution of 1080×2400 pixels and an aspect ratio of 20:9 aspect ratio. The phone looks quite premium in terms of design. It comes with no notch and ‘almost’ full-screen display, thanks to its pop-up rotating camera. Although the phone doesn’t feature any notch or punch-hole, it does feature thin bezels on the sides and near the chin area. The screen also features an in-display fingerprint scanner for security purpose.

Processor and Memory: The Galaxy A80 is powered by a recently unveiled octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G SoC coupled with Adreno 618 GPU. It is the first phone to come with the newest mid-range processor which is a gaming-focused chipset with a slightly faster GPU clock speed than the Snapdragon 730. In terms of memory, there’s 8GB of RAM and 128GB of inbuilt storage.

Software: The device runs Google’s latest Android 9.0 Pie operating system out of the box with Samsung’s One UI on top.

Camera: The key highlight of the Galaxy A80 is its camera. The phone flaunts a rotating pop-up triple camera module which comprises of a 48-megapixel primary sensor with f/2.0 aperture + an 8-megapixel ultra wide-angle sensor with f/2.2 aperture + a third ToF (Time of Flight) camera for depth mapping. As the camera set up is rotating, it can also be used for taking selfies and making video calls. When you open the front camera, it will automatically rotate. The camera set up features Super Steady video mode, Scene Optimizer with detection for 30 scenes, and Flaw Detection for enhanced photography.

Battery: The phone is backed by a 3,700mAh battery with 25W Super-Fast Charging support. Samsung is also touting the ‘intelligent battery’ that learns the user’s routine to enhance the performance of the battery.

The other features of the Galaxy A80 include Dolby Atmos technology, Bixby, Samsung Pay, Samsung Health, Samsung Knox and Intelligent Performance Enhancer that uses AI for performance optimisation. In terms of dimensions, the phone measures 165.2×76.5×9.3 mm.
