Earlier last week, China-based smartphone maker Oppo expanded its mid-range product portfolio with the launch of Oppo F11 smartphone in India with a price tag of Rs. 24,990. The phone is targeted towards consumers who want a good camera performance. Considering the price and specifications, the Oppo F11 Pro is expected to compete against Vivo V15 Pro that was launched in India at the start of last month and Samsung’s Galaxy A50 that was launched in India towards the end of last month. In terms of design, all three phones feature a plastic body which is slightly disappointing considering the fact that they are well-priced mid-rangers. We particularly liked the Vivo V15 Pro thanks to a nicely placed triple rear camera set up, absence of a notch, pop-up selfie camera and an in-display fingerprint scanner which keeps the back clean without any scanner.

In terms of colour options– The Galaxy A50 comes in Blue, White, and Black colour options. The Vivo V15 Pro comes in Topaz Blue and Ruby Red colour options. The Oppo F11 Pro is available in two gradient colour options- Thunder Black and Aurora Green.

The Samsung Galaxy A50 sports a 6.4-inch full-HD+ Infinity-U Super AMOLED Display panel with 1080×2340 pixel screen resolution, 91.6 percent screen-to-body ratio and 403 ppi pixel density. The phone also gets an in-display fingerprint sensor. The Vivo V15 Pro gets a 6.39-inch Ultra FullView Super AMOLED display with a screen resolution of 1080×2340 pixels and an aspect ratio of 19:9 resulting into a screen-to-body-ratio of 91.64 per cent. There is no notch at the top of the display unlike most other smartphones being launched these days. The pixel density of the display is relatively low at 388 ppi. The phone also gets a fifth-generation in-display fingerprint scanner. The Oppo F11 Pro flaunts a slightly larger 6.53-inch full HD+ LTPS IPS LCD display with 1080×2340 pixel screen resolution, 19.5:9 aspect ratio, 90.90 percent screen-to-body ratio and 397 ppi pixel density. The display comes with absolutely no notch and thin bezels around. It’s a tough call to decide a pick a winner in this department as the Oppo F11 Pro gets a larger display but Galaxy A50 and Vivo V15 Pro come with Super AMOLED display should offer a better colour reproduction. The Vivo V15 Pro and Oppo F11 Pro do not feature a notch, but Galaxy A50 does feature a water drop shaped notch at the top that houses the selfie camera. In terms of dimensions, the Samsung Galaxy A50 measures 158.5 x 74.7 x 7.7 mm and weighs about 166 grams. The Vivo V15 Pro has dimensions of 157.25 x 74.71 x 8.21 mm and weight of 185 grams, while the Oppo F11 Pro has dimensions of 161.3 x 76.1 x 8.8 mm and weight of 190 grams. So, the Galaxy A50 is the slimmest and the lightest of the three phones.

The Galaxy A50 draws its power from an octa-core Exynos 9610 SoC, coupled with 6GB and 4GB RAM options. The storage capacity of the device is 64GB that is expandable via microSD card (up to 512GB).

The Vivo V15 Pro is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 AIE octa-core processor. In terms of memory, it features 6GB of RAM and 128GB of inbuilt storage, which is expandable up to 256GB via microSD card.

The Oppo F11 Pro gets a MediaTek Helio P70 chipset with AI optimisations. Further, there’s 6GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage.

The Vivo V15 gets an upper hand here as it features one of the best mid-range SoCs by Qualcomm i.e. Snapdragon 675 and it also gets 6GB of RAM.

In terms of software all three smartphones run a customized Android version. The Galaxy A50 runs Google’s latest Android 9.0 Pie operating system out of the box along with Samsung’s One UI on top. The Vivo V15 Pro also runs on Android 9 Pie, but it is based on Vivo’s Funtouch OS 9 version. Whereas the Oppo F11 Pro runs on ColorOS 6.0 based on Android 9 Pie operating system. The UI is a matter of choice, but we like the Samsung’s One more than the other two.

The Samsung Galaxy A50 has a 4,000mAh capacity battery underneath to keep things ticking. It supports 15W fast charging via USB Type-C port. The Vivo V15 Pro packs a 3,700mAh capacity battery with company’s own Dual Engine charging support. It can charge the phone from 0 to 24 percent in 15 minutes, as claimed by the company. The Oppo F11 Pro is backed by a 4,000mAh battery with 20W VOOC 3.0 fast charging support via Micro-USB port. The Galaxy A50 and Oppo F11 Pro are at par with each other in terms of battery performance, while the Vivo V15 Pro lags behind due to its smaller capacity battery.

The Samsung Galaxy A50 gets a vertically aligned triple camera set up on the back which is placed at the top left corner of the device and comprises of a 25-megapixel primary sensor with an auto-focus f/1.7 lens + a 5-megapixel secondary sensor with a fixed-focus f/2.2 lens + an 8-megapixel sensor with a fixed-focus f/2.2 lens. The front gets a 25-megapixel sensor with a fixed-focus f/2.0 lens for selfies and video calls. The camera set up features Samsung’s Intelligent Scene Optimiser which can adjust the colour, contrast, and brightness after categorising the subject in focus.

The Vivo V15 Pro also gets a vertically aligned triple rear camera module placed at the top left corner consisting of a 12-megapixel (48 Million Quad Pixel Sensor) with f/1.8 aperture + an 8-megapixel AI super wide-angle secondary sensor + a third 5-megapixel depth shooter. The main 48-megapixel camera uses a Samsung GM1 sensor. The rear camera supports features such as AI Body Shaping and AI Portrait Lighting. For selfies, there’s an impressive 32-megapixel pop-up camera on the front.

The Oppo F11 Pro gets a dual rear camera set up which consists of a 48MP primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture + a 5MP secondary sensor with f/2.4 aperture. The primary camera gets a Sony IMX586 sensor and has pixel binning capabilities that can combine four pixels together in low-lighting conditions. For selfies, the phone gets a gets a 16-megapixel motorised pop-up camera.

On paper, the Vivo V15 Pro is a clear winner in the camera department as it gets a triple rear camera module which can record video with 4K resolution, and it also sports an impressive 32-megapixel pop-up selfie camera. The Samsung Galaxy A50 grabs the second spot, while the Oppo F11 Pro gets the last spot.

The Oppo F11 Pro price in India is set at Rs. 24,990 for the sole 6GB + 64GB internal storage model launched.

The Vivo V15 Pro is the most expensive phone of the three and it is priced in India at Rs. 28,990 for the lone 6GB RAM + 128GB inbuilt storage model.

Although the Vivo V15 Pro is priced higher than the other two phones, it also offers more than the other two. If features a better processor along with an excellent camera set up. It also gets a Super AMOLED and entirely unobstructed display. It lags behind in terms of battery but not much. So, the Vivo V15 Pro is a winner in this battle according to us. If you are a bit short on budget, then the Galaxy A50 is a good option to consider as well.
