Samsung Galaxy A2 Core with Android Go Edition Launched in India

South Korean tech giant Samsung has expanded its budget smartphone portfolio with the launch of Galaxy A2 Core. The latest member of Galaxy A series features 5-inch display and runs Android Go Edition out of the box i.e. it will come pre-loaded with Go-based apps which are designed to run efficiently with phone’s average set of specs.

Samsung Galaxy A2 Core Price and Availability in India

The Galaxy A2 Core price in India is set at Rs. 5290. Notably, this is cheaper than the Galaxy J2 Core that was launched by the company last year. The phone will be sold via all the leading offline stores in the country. But it is still not clear if it will be sold via eCommerce sites or not.

Samsung Galaxy A2 Core Features and Specifications

Being a budget-conscious Android Go smartphone, the Galaxy A2 Core comes with average set of features and specifications. It bears a 5-inch qHD LCD screen with a 960 x 540 pixel resolution. There are sizeable bezels around this screen, with a selfie camera, earpiece and proximity sensor located above. The device is powered by a 1.6GHz octa-core Exynos 7870 SoC along with 1GB of RAM. The inbuilt storage capacity of the device is 16GB, which can be extended further up to 256GB using a microSD card.

As mentioned earlier, the phone will run Android 9.0 Pie Go Edition out of the box and will come pre-loaded with Go Edition Google apps such as Maps Go, Google Assistant Go, Gmail Go, Chrome browser, Facebook Lite, FM Radio, File Manager, Calendar, Calculator and more. In terms of optics, there’s a 5MP rear camera as well as a 5MP front camera. The front camera of Redmi Go also has the AI Beautify feature. All of this is backed by a 2,600mAh capacity battery. The connectivity features included in the device are 4G LTE dual-SIM, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS/ A-GPS, Micro-USB port, a headphone jack and FM Radio. The dimensions of Samsung Galaxy A2 Core are 141.6x71x9.1mm and it weighs 142 grams.

Considering the price and specs, the Galaxy A2 Core will compete against the likes of Xiaomi Redmi Go which features a 5-inch HD screen, Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 SoC, 1GB RAM and a 3000mAh capacity battery. It comes with a price tag of Rs. 4499, which makes it the one of the most affordable Android Go smartphone available in the market.
