As reported earlier, Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi has announced to bring 5 surprises this week as part of its five year anniversary. Yesterday, the 1st surprise by reducing the price of Xiaomi Mi A2 device and now the company has slashed price of its Redmi Note 5 Pro. Xiaomi India’s MD, Mr. Manu Jain, made the announcement via his twitter handle. The tweet reads “Mi fans! Here’s the special announcement: #RedmiNote5Pro gets whopping up to Rs 4000 off, an offer you surely can’t refuse! RT & give me #High5 if you’ve been waiting for this sweet deal! ?? 3 more to go!”

“We are delighted to share that our Redmi Note 5 series has surpassed an incredible one crore units of sale since its launch which includes Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro. This is as per IDC, November Smartphone Tracker 2018. As we celebrate this major milestone with our Mi Fans, here’s our second surprise of the week for you – our Redmi Note 5 Pro will see a permanent price drop starting today, at 10 am across all our sales platforms,” read a company press announcement.

Redmi Note 5 Pro Revised Price in India

The Redmi Note 5 Pro was previously available with a starting price tag of Rs. 13,999 and with price cut, it will start at Rs. 12,999 for the 4GB RAM variant. The 6GB RAM variant is now available at Rs. 13,999 instead of Rs. 16,999. Although Xioami claims that the prices have been slashed by up to Rs 4,000, it’s not more than Rs 2,000 due to the difference between the MRP and MOP. The MOPs for both the variants are Rs. 13,999 and Rs. 15,999 respectively.

Redmi Note 5 Pro Software and Hardware Configuration

The Redmi Note 5 Pro bears a 5.99-inch full-HD display with 1080 x 2160 pixel screen resolution and an 18:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood, there’s an octa-core Snapdragon 636 SoC to keep things ticking. In terms of memory, there’s 4GB or 6GB of RAM along with 64GB of internal storage that is expandable up to 128GB via microSD card. The dual-SIM device boots Android Nougat-based MIUI 9 OS out of the box and is fueled by an impressive 4,000mAh capacity battery with fast charging support.

In terms of optics, the phone is equipped with a dual rear camera set up consisting of a 12-megapixel primary sensor along with an f/2.2 aperture + a 5-megapixel secondary sensor with an f/2.0 aperture. On the front, there’s a 20-megapixel Sony IMX376 selfie camera with full HD video recording support, an LED flashlight and Beautify 4.0 selfie software enhancements.
